Pitta signs 3 year deal

I think it's wise for him not to sign anything longer. The second deal should be much more lucrative when Heaps goes away.

I'm kinda curious what the terms were on his deal, and compare them to the Ravens other rookie TE they drafted before Pitta... Dickson.



Pitta better have got the better end of that deal, regardless if Dickson was drafted before him. Pitta is much better, and he will be the one that Todd Heaps passes the torch onto.

Unfortunately, I think most contracts are done bottoms-up. They won't even sign higher rounds to contracts until the lowers are filled. That way a first rounder doesn't end up getting paid less than a second rounder and so on.

You will be pleased to learn that Dickson has not been signed yet. Pitta is only the 2nd rookie they've inked, behind their 1st round DT. 3 other guys taken before Dennis are still working to get a spot on the team.

sgining a contract doesn't= spot on the team



it's entirely posible that the other players are simply holding out for more money, etc.



This doesn't mean that Dennis is higher or lower on the priority list, just that his agent managed to work out a contract.



Talent-wise we all know that Dennis will make it, but signing doesn't mean that Baltimore likes him anymore than the unsigned at this point.

But John Beck telling us that the Ravens are incorporating two tight-end sets to get Pitta on the field without taking Heaps off tells you something--they aren't doing that for any of the other TEs.
