So far Rivals has NM at 112 (last year 117) and CSU at 107 (last year 105).

UNLV comes in at 105 (last year 91) and Utah St at 103.

SDSU at 77 and Wyoming at 71. Last year they had them at 99 and 72. So they look to be moving up.

AF comes in at #42. Their weakness are their lines which are mostly new kids.

All they need to learn is to dive at people's knees, I'm sure they'll pick that up pretty quickly.

The line will always be AFA's weakness. You can run the triple-option to make up for lack of size at skill positions, but there's not much you can do to overcome lack of size in the lines--short of diving at people's knees, that is.

Just like BYU will always have to do with the Honor Code, AFA will always have to deal with physical fitness and size requirements that prevent prototypical linemen from enrolling. Plus, I think they still have the rule that you can't have a TV in your dorm until you are an upperclassman which can't help lure many of the XBox generation to campus.

BYU comes in at #34.

BYU has been one of the most consistent teams in the nation of late and again should challenge for the Mountain West title.

But questions at quarterback, running back and in the defensive front seven make it appear the Cougars are going to have to scrap to finish higher than third in the league.

At the end there is a two deep depth chart.

This is depressing...

112 - New Mexico

107- Colorado St.

105- UNLV

77 - San Diego St.

71 - Wyoming

42 - Air Force

34 - BYU

Our bottom half of the MWC really sucks!!! Our bottom-dwellers are definitely toilet-scrubbers!

I understand every conference has their bad apples, but our three are ranked 105th or worse! There's 120 schools out there, and we have three in the 100's.

I understand this is according to Rivals.com, and it's only one poll, but I can't imagine any other poll out there would make our bottom scrubbers look any better than this.

Five of our members are 70th or worse in the nation. At times I don't blame the BCS for our lack of productivity to prove any worthiness of a corrupted-flawed BCS system. It's a good thing our top three(maybe four, depending on the year) off-set our horrid showing of the bottom half.

Our backs are against the wall -- Especially with Utah departed next year.

We seriously need Boise St. ranked extremely high for the season opener. We need them to reach the BCS National Championship game AND win, for the MWC to reach AQ status.

What do you make of a review that doesn't even mention Pendleton as one of the star returners on defense?!!!!

mmm... I don't think it's that drastic. We have shown that we are more worthy than a few conferences already. We just to end up with a couple in the top 10 (Boise included), 3 total in the top 20. Anything more than that will be icing on the cake. Just need to stay the course, that is all.

Notre Dame came in at #30. How can they do that with all of the players they lost and a new QB with no backup. They even have a new coach. Oh they gave them spots for the dismissal of the old coach.

And Brian Kelly is a proven winner at the college level with a lot less talent that what he'll find at ND.

Navy is 23. I think they should be added to the MWC for football only with Houston and one other team for a 12 team conference on the verge of the AQ.

1- Okay, what state is Navy in again?

2- Do you realize why that matters?

3- There's no such thing as "football only" in the MWC. For the same reason, BYU's other sports couldn't stay in the MWC if they went independant in football.

PS Navy is on the East coast, A cross country trip once every other year is no big deal. It would be challenging for them though. Being in the Eastern Division they would be going to Texas or Colorado mostly.

Who says you can't do football only? Hair makes the rules.

Navy is actually a pretty intriguing addition to the Mountain West. Scheduling would be the main issue, but we could get the Mountain West into an East Coast market AND another program with a national following...

Navy's schedule would change, but not that drastically. In 2010, Navy already plays at Air Force. They also play at Louisiana Tech, which is right next to Texas....I think it could be doable. Each year, they would just need to play 1 game in Texas, 1 game in Colorado/Wyoming, and 1 game in California/Utah/Idaho, etc. They could still stack their non-conference schedule with home games and ACC opponents...Navy has also had a past bowl tie-in with the Poinsettia Bowl...I think Navy would be competitive for the conference championship occasionally, and would definitely bolster the middle of the conference...

Throw in Houston and Fresno State, and that could be a fun conference!
