Lavell's opinion on Utah bolting

I agree with his point of view.

"It's like that all over the country. Traditions and rivalries have all taken a backseat to the dollar," he said. "That seems to be the thing that's driving everything that's going on. That's what's happening with college athletics. It's the way things are. I hate to see it. But that's the way it is. There's not much you can do about it."

Utah just sold themselves for the almighty dollar AND threw away everything it had accomplished in the MWC WHEN we were literally two years away from a definite AQ conference.

Let's just hope that wasn't the straw that broke the camels back. I honestly believe the MWC will bust the BCS these next two years, making that three years in a row.

I agree 100%, with the exception of USC, the MWC has been the better conf in hoops and in football in recent years.

Lets be honest, if the roles were reversed we would be bolting as well.

except if we were joining the academic and moral powerhouses of USC, Oregon and Colorado, I might have some issues with our decision. Can't blame the Utes for "graduating" to AQ status.

Like I have always said, the BCS is great, as long as you are in it. If we had a shot we would be stupid to pass it up. Best would have been to stay the mwc and get an auto bid though. that is best for utah and byu because they would have a high likelihood of bcs bowling every year.

oh weel. here is to getting an auto bid for the mwc or getting into the big 12. i think i would rather be in the mwc with an auto bid. but the money will never be there so big 12 is probably better for that reason.

My question is will this quiet Senator Hatch and others from Congress that constantly used utah as their posterchild for antitrust issues with the Bc$.

"Look, Utah moving to the Pac 10 doesn't mean the BCS has suddenly become a fair and equitable system... The Mountain West is going to continue to be a formidable conference and it will still be worthy of better treatment by the BCS and I intend to get them that."

Hatch and Shurtlef are both BYU grads.
