If it's like Chip says, the Big12 "leftovers" got SCREWED.

So here's Chip Brown's play-by-play recap (and a lot of bragging) about how the Big12 crisis began and ended.

With the Big 12's obituary seemingly imminent, Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe secures assurances from ABC/ESPN that it will honor its current contract with the Big 12 through 2016 even if the league is 10 members and without a conference championship game. Meaning, all of Colorado's and Nebraska's share of the TV revenue as well as the money from the championship game would now be divided between the 10 schools.



The five schools who appeared to be the pall bearers for the Big 12 - Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor - make a commitment to hand over their share of the $35 million to $40 million in penalties to be paid by Nebraska and Colorado to Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

That is UNBELIEVABLE. UT and OU are the tyrannical dictators of the conference that got Nebraska po'd enough to walk in the first place, and what do UT and OU hold over the leftovers' heads? 'You're nowhere unless you give us all the money that's rightfully yours due to US driving 2 members of the conference out." OUCH. That is flat out Obamian. Deserves lawsuits out the wazzou, but they'll never see the light of day, because every leftover is so relieved not to even have to consider the MWC that they'll gladly sign on any dotted line they have to. Talk about coercion!!! Maybe I DON'T want a thing to do with that conference!!!

the leftovers will get more than they were getting before, but Ut still calls the shots and gets what they want 1st.



This is the same reason that Utah would leave the mWC if the Pac 10 were dumb enough to water down their league anymore...because no matter what they do to utah (and by that, I mean treat them like a red headed step child), it's still more $$ (colorado was enough).... more is better right? not always, especially when big brother calls all the shots...



The MWC conf needs to hold on until they can deal with ESPN, etc. in the future. The money will be there, particularly if TCU or BSU make a NC run next year.. which is entirely possible.
