TV Contracts

So here's a question that I am wondering about...



As far as I understand it, the MTN has a contract with the MWC, but also with each individual school. If or when Utah goes to the PAC-10, or BYU to the Big 12 or whatever, what will happen as far as the MTN goes? Won't the MTN still have the broadcast rights?

Answer to your actual question, no, I don't know. My GUESS, however, is that you're right that the mtn has rights to the conference and every team in it. That means, though, that a team's rights only belong to the mtn because they're a member of the MWC, so if they're no longer a member of the conference, the mtn has no rights to them.

I don't think BYU is dumb enough to sign such a long-term contract without a buyout clause or something of similar effect.

The Mtn has rights to conference games. In the event there is a change of teams the contract will be renegotiated. Gaining BSU and losing Utah is close to a wash.
