Texas Stays!

ESPN is reporting Texas stays, per a phone conversation with Larry Brown. How does this affect BYU now they have 10 players? The official announcement will come tomorrow.

Let's hope they are still looking to expand and the previous BYU, Air Force invitation was more than a hacker's wishful thinking.



It also means Utah is looking more like a viable Pac-10 candidate.

So now the Big 10 has 12 teams and the Big 12 has ten! The PAC-10 now has 11. I predict the NCAA relaxing their standards and allowing teams with at least 10 teams to hold a championship game.

Didn't the ACC try this a few years back when they added just Miami? The NCAA turned them down then and I expect them to do it again. There would be quite the double standard backlash if they suddenly allowed the former Big 12 to have a championship game with only 10.

Right, but now you would have two conferences who would support such a measure: the Big "12" and the Pac-"10"

Just watched ESPN - ditto - they are reporting Texas is staying. They also reported - Utah may be a target for the PAC-11 now that Texas is staying. Pure speculation on their part - I was surprised to hear them say that. Who knows????

Texas and Oklahoma send a fruit basket to Pac 11 and Larry Scott with a big thank you for taking Colorado off their hands and giving them the opportunity to get the biggest payout per team TV package.



Scott was quoted as saying it was nice of them to think of him but he wasn't really disappointed because overall he really wanted Utah instead of Texas. :P

If the NCAA denied the PAC 10's request for an exception to the 12 team requirement, seems like they would also do it for a conference that dipped below 12. That would be my hope anyway, since it would motivate the B12 to get back to 12 and continue to rake in money from a championship game.



Right now it looks bad, with Utah almost certainly going to the Psoon to be 12, and the B12 possible staying at 10. But the game's not over!
