This isn't the first time reports have come out about schools jumping ship. Remember a couple of weeks ago when it was released that Nebraska, Mizzou, and Rutgers had received Big Ten invites?



I don't buy it. Until Notre Dame officially says that they are NOT going to join the Big Ten, then the Big T1E1N isn't going to invite anyone.

Most concerning quote in the article:

That means byu and utah are left out. but it means the mwc conference has a good shot at getting stronger as well picking off some of the big 12 leftovers if they can.

As is reported below and ESPN "Bob Davie just stated that NU will make it official on Friday. Davie also said that USC will get crushed by the NCAA as well, which will include bowl bans, lost schollie's, etc. I'll believe the latter when I see it.

Bye Bye Big 12

Please don't title a thread "Official" until it actually news of it actually gets posted by a reputable news organization. Bleacher Report is akmost as bad as the Huffington Post for accuracy and while Chip Brown may have broken a lot of the rumors announced so far, nothing is official yet. In fact, we are a FAR way from anything being official in this whole mess. I really think this is just a power grab/arms race in the college football cold war. The Big Ten knows it doesn't deserve anything according the results on the field but has gone virtually insane trying to stay relevant and lusts after power even more than money. The Pac-10 is tired of being downtrodden and wants a bigger share of the pie as well. So much for tradition, eh boys? I thought that was what was so important to you all. Apparently not as they are attempting to throw it all out the window just to be the king on the mountain and fill their pockets in the process.

NOT UTAH. Yewt fans love to rub it in that BYU is not being considered for the PAC-0. Well here is a report that mentions nothing about Utah being considered for the Big 12. Gotta love that.



Maybe they are assuming that Utah is going to the PAC?



Or maybe the Big 12 realizes that the Salt Lake TV market is DOMINATED by BYU, not Utah. So why not add another market altogether in Air Force.

Please learn to relax about thread titles on a college football message board. I simply stole the language from the title. I don't dispute that things can still change. There is surely posturing going on at the moment. Nebraska is raising the stakes to get what it wants from the Big 12. At least this is all speeding up. Take a chill pill grandpa.

810 WHB (the kansas city radio station that broke the news of the Big 10 invites) says it's a done deal.

This is abut as official as it gets without a press conference.



Nebraska is a big 10 program now; the question is what Texas and Oklahoma do now that the Big 12 north is a farce.



The funneist thing is that Mizzou kept the Big 12 at arms length the last few months; even pursuing the Big 10 because of what they see as a major revenue disparity,,, and now they're going to have to tuck their tails and beg the south schools not to leave.



Jayhawk fans here in KC are about to throw themselves off of the tallest building they can find...



I might actually be able to live out here a few more years if KU and Kstate end up in the MWC.



My feeling is that the north schools will scramble and attempt to keep the Big 12 together by inviting BYU, TCU (easiest thing to do if the south schools underestimate the recruiting challenge) or Arkansas (a school they covet but won't come cheap since they like the SEC $$) and the south will leverage the norths desperation against them. If the leverage doesn't bring what the south wants, then Texas and OU start talking to the SEC and Pac 10.

I think they must have changed the title because it said Its official when I linked it. the link above looks like a variation on that. why are we fighting about something so stupid. were not 2 year olds. we are all capable of reading the article and making our own conclusions. Don't forget this is just cougarcorner, a very small byu sports message board, not the new york times.

1- The Big Ten hasn't invited Nebraska, and won't if Notre Dame calls them soon.

If Texas was smart, they could always replace CU/Nebraska/Missouri with Arizona/Arizona State/BYU, moving Oklahoma/Oklahoma State into the North division, re-balancing the league. Then they should begin splitting revenue equally just to avoid future contention. Texas would have it's own network anyway, so the $1MM less a year would be worth it to not go through this insanity again.

If the Big 12 is smart, and at this point, it is debatable, if they lose Nebraska and Colorado, they ought to send OU up north with BYU and add a team for the south division. Having OU and Texas on opposite ends balances that conference out much better for football.

Problem is, this is the first time you linked this page. If you would have linked that one the first time around, you would have saved yourself a lot of grief.



While I will forgive you for calling it "official," I still don't think it's official by a long shot.



The Bleacher Report is jumping out calling it official (because they have little credibility to lose if they're wrong) and cite to two other sites reporting a rumor to substantiate: orangebloods (who didn't call it official) and ESPN, who in part relies on orangebloods. Nothing is "official" until we have something official from an offical at Nebraska.

The Big XII has been really stupid so far not to go after some of the other conferences teams. They are on the verge of a brand new TV contract. With the right mix of teams, they could even pass up the SEC's contract in dollar value. They should be probing the Arizona schools and Arkansas for interest. BYU is already rumored to be in the mix along with others. The bottom line is as long as they still hold Texas, they hold all the cards. Texas doesn't want to jump. They've got it made in the shade.
