Does expansion have anything to do with USC and the NCAA?

Are Texas "and the Pips" only being considered by the PAC only because they know the hammer is going to come down on USC? Do they need another ace-in-the-hole? SC, for the moment, wears the Pac-10 pants. HOW MUCH IS THIS CONNECTED?



Or, conversely, is the NCAA getting a "back-room ultimatum" from the BCS as well that USC won't be touched? To me, it's VERY suspicious that the meat of these rumors about the PAC to 16 were floated the DAY before the NCAA was scheduled to rule on USC, then, all of the sudden, since then, no one has heard a THING from the NCAA about USC. I guarantee the NCAA is sweating in their boots right now.



My take is that the BCS doesn't WANT to have to create their own full blown athletics association, due to the fact that the NCAA already has the entire infrastructure in place, and they babysit every money-sucking non-revenue sport, but they'd do it if they felt like they needed to.



Ever since the Supreme Court ruled that the teams and Conferences have TV rights, and not the NCAA, the NCAA has been at the Big Conferences' beck and call. The BCS gives them just enough money to get the job done, and I GUARANTEE the NCAA is being told in no uncertain terms NOT to make waves, which is why everybody says the elite teams only ever get slaps on the wrist. There's too much money involved for the power schools to actually be answerable to governing "authority". If for whatever reason, the NCAA faced enough political pressure to TRY to call the power schools on ANYTHING, it'd be a hassle for the Big Six conferences to reinvent the wheel and make their own "Elite-C-double-A", BUT THEY'D DO IT.

And make no mistake, that'd be SUICIDE for the NCAA. The NCAA goes completely bankrupt if they're left with the current Non-AQ's, D1-AA, and D's II and III.

This gives USC way too much credit. And ignores the fact that the NCAA are just going to slap their hand. Maybe a few scholarships lost for 2 years or so, and a 1 year bowl ban, and that is it--at most. And USC hoops might even get the worst of it, actually. USC is too high profile, makes too much $$ for the NCAA for them to punish them as much as they should. Wait and see. But USC hoops is an afterthought, so I expect that to be where the harshest punishment ends up.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised this week when USC gets their rearends handed to them. You don't do an investigation for 4 years and reveal nothing.

possibe? 2 year post season ban, loss of 5-7 scholarships, vacated wins, and loss of recruting hours (which Kiffen will cheat on anyhow) (enough to stain USC for a decade)



then you throwin the Tennessee investigation and the dirt on Ed Orgeron that wlll fall in the next few years and Trojan fans are not going to be happy .... UCLA fans are going to party naked in the streets.

This certainly sends a message that with the infractions committee there aren't any sacred cows



for every program that has a great deal of success, there are too many others that want that team to pay the piper if they cheated, including the remaining Pac 10 teams
