I believe this is Texas attempting to force its hand in getting the big12 to remain in tact. If they are planning on bolting then i think they consider the pac10 offer much more seriously.
if the commit to the big12 then Utah probably has a better shot at getting in to the pac because they may stick with the expand by 2 model that was originally getting so much hype. but still possible pac10 and big12 stay but do a tv deal together which makes the most sense to me. that leaves mwc pretty much untouched.
if they say they are bolting then the pac10 superconference offer becomes something texas may look at more seriously.
there is some major playing going on right now. the pac10 really sped things up with the pac16 offer rumors.
it seems to me if this report is legit which it appears to be that the big10 will be forced to speed up their approach and let nu and missou know if they are going to invite them or not this week.
