With all of the Heaps-Nelson talk I think we really forget that this was the #1 recruit in the nation with over 30 offers. We are so lucky to have him. Thanks, Jake. Here is to a great ride.

All I can say is that the thing that impresses me most about Heaps is his touch. He is not a rocket arm like John Beck was. But his arm is stronger than what Max Hall had. But the kid has an amazing touch throwing the ball down field. He really knows how to put it in a spot where his guy can go get it, and it is away from the D.

It helps that he's got GREAT recievers... ;) but I agree with you. The other thing I noticed, was his ability to pick up the blitz and look off defenders. They are sending people after him every down, it seems like, and he looks great in that area.

One great thing about Heaps' highlights is the improvement he showed. Go back and look at his sophomore and junior year highlights. His arm is so much stronger and much more accurate as a senior than when he was younger. You would expect that of course, but I think it shows that some national prognosticators who said that Heaps had reached his ceiling are incorrect. I think there's still room for growth.

I'm sure those national prognosticators are the same ones that rank just about every BCS signee above every non-BCS signee, after all if the non-bcs signee were really good they would have chosen a BCS school of a weak non-BCS school. :angry:
