Cal's Chancelor on June 6th Meeting of Pac10 "revolutionary"

On Monday, in Wellesley, Mass., UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert Birgeneau participated in a Q&A with the Cal Alumni Club of New England, and sources say that during that meeting, Cal's top official revealed several tantalizing tidbits in regards to the possible expansion of the Pac-10 Conference.

Birgeneau confirmed that the chancellors and presidents of the Pac-10 member schools will be holding a conference meeting on June 6 in San Francisco, and said that he would be "surprised if something did not happen that revolutionized college athletics."

It seems to me he is overdoing it here. I wonder if they are speeding up their tv deal knowing that USC may be getting the hammer thrown on at them this weekend when the final investigation findings come out.

Well in the world of the Pac 10- if USC gets hammered ' it WOULD be revolutionary. The Pac zero would be quite the football power :P

Honestly, I dont' care if the Pac 1- expands or even if they take Utah. I do care that USC gets what's comin to them. A decade of boosters buying players needs to end badly for them.

Pete Caroll knew when to get out (just like jeffrey skilling left enron a year before the bust... though he still got what was coming to him)

I can't think of a single thing the PAC-10 is going to do this year. It all seems to point towards next season. Perhaps they'll throw out the round-robin scheduling and go back to only 8 conference games, but I doubt it. Not even that would be revolutionary. Going forward with the proposition to give conference championship games to 10+ team conferences would be, but that's not on the time table 'til 2011.

I saw that too--it would be a very interesting conference. I'm not sure why Texas, OU, or A&M would want to leave to the Pac 10.

Could there be a truth in advertising suit against a "Pacific" league that includes schools in Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado?
