More Boise State National Championship talk

I'm no big fan of BS, but I hope they go undefeated again this year and make as big a fuss as possible about the NC. Some here may be a bit jealous and may put them down because of their weak WAC schedule but they have little control of that. No more than we control our weak MWC schedule. I'm all for inviting them into the MWC. It's funny most people I talk to here in the south don't see a big difference between the MWC and the WAC, and TCU didn't help much. It wears me out at times trying to argue that. I think everyone is waiting on the Big 10 to move on adding schools before the dominoes fall. I just hope BS, TCU and Utah don't all go to BC$ confs. and we get left out with the MWC/WAC leftovers.

First off, Utah has kicked Lousiville's butt how many times in a row? And Kentucky is the perennial doormat of the SEC, so I find it funny anyone in Kentucky would rag on the MWC. I get the SEC thing, but it isn't like the SEC is better because of Kentucky and Louisville had like 2 good years. Just sayin.



Depth is what defines a great conference. Adding more depth only helps the MWC. Questions i, will the depth mean more or less money. Since we are all smaller market teams, for the most part, that is a huge issue. Expansion has to equate to more revenue, or it makes little sense in the BCS era.

Hey, your preaching to the choir here! Louisville is pretty cosmopolitan, there are a lot of Indiana, OSU, Cinn, Tenn, UNC and USC (that's the South Carolina version) fans and we always get Big 10, SEC, Big Least, and ACC sports. Interesting I've never meet anyone who likes WVU. Football in Kentucky is what you do to pass the time until basketball season starts and then it's either UK blue or UL red. Not nearly as nasty as the Utah Holy War version but just as passionate.

You mean when they face mighty VA Tech? I think New Mexico could beat them... They have to pretty much be the most over rated team over the past few years, Boise State will smack the crap out of them and trust me I'm no Boise fan.

Agreed. Virginia Tech is like the top Big east team, the 2nd place Big Ten team, or the 2nd place PAC-10 team - No one stays up at night worrying about them. They're not Texas or Alabama by any means, not by a long shot. They're not even Boise State.

Look, Va Tech isn't Alabama or Texas, and no one is saying they are. But the most overrated team over the past 2 year is BOISE. Lets look at what they "accomplished" last year. Beat Oregon in the 1st game of the year. Nice win. But I think we can all agree that the Oregon which Boise faced was NOT the same Oregon team that won the Pac-10.



Hmmmm....what else. Oh, here's a nice 11-point victory over Nevada - the same fierce Nevada team that lost 35-0 to the Mighty Fighting Irish, lost by 15 to Colorado State, and lost by 35 points (!!!!!) to SMU in their bowl game. Nice win, Boise.



Oooo....here' s a 7-point spanking of the Golden Hurricanes - the same Tulsa team that lost by 45 to OU, and also had valiant efforts in losses to UTEP, SMU, Houston, East Carolina, and Southern Miss. A nice, competitive record of 5-7 for the Fighting Wheat Fields.



And here's a solid 10-point shellacking of the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech. The same Bulldogs who also managed to lose to Utah State, and finished 4-8 (with a win over a d 1-AA team). I guess the Broncos showed some real heart in this game, as it was a 2-point contest early in the 4th - but the Broncos hit the gas and accelerated to a 10-point victory.



Ok, I finally found it - why all of you Broncos lovers on this board are so pumped up for 2010 - here's an 18-point STOMPING of UC Davis. Of course, this was a 10-point game late in the 3rd, but BS(U) managed to exert their will and pull away from the Aggies in the 4th for an impressive victory. Of course, UC Davis did manage to lose to Fresno 51-0, and also had a loss of over 18 points to Southern Utah, and finished with a dominating 7-5 record in the always-fierce "Artist Formally Known As 1-AA" division.



And of course, here's a 7 point win over TCU - in a game which TCU came out flat and tight, played like garbage, repeatedly shot themselves in the foot...and Boise needed a long defensive TD and a sneaky trick play to put enough points on the board to win...barely. But THIS is really the only truly impressive win of the Broncos' season.



I've never seen a team in the last 20 years get SO MUCH CREDIT for accomplishing SO LITTLE. Is Boise State very good? Definitely. They are a legit top-15 team. But they are NOT one of the 2-3 best teams in the country.



And will they beat Va Tech on the East Coast in the first game of the year next year? Not a chance. Va Tech will run right over the top of Boise's D - and will keep the ball away from Kellen Moore just enough to win the game. Boise will also lose another game along the way, and finish 10-2. But don't worry...they'll still win the WAC.



You guys need to take your BSU love over to a Broncos message board. I'm sure they'll love some "converts" to their team.

2- Boise State's two wins over the outright PAC-10 champ and over undefeated TCU may both be better than any BYU win since Miami. Or can you name one? A win over unranked Oklahoma? No.



3- BSU > TCU, TCU > BYU, by 4 touchdowns. We aren't even close to the level those two teams have been playing on the last two seasons. Not even close.



4- Virginia Tech isn't going to challenge Boise State. They aren't as good as the Oregon team that BSU beat by multiple scores last year, and this Broncos team is better than that one. Boise State by 14.



5- If I was a voter, Boise State would enter this season #1 for me, with TCU and Alabama rounding out the top 3, and Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma near the top as well. You can't really argue against that reasonably.

who cares about the donkeys? why do people write so much about them on here. Dont they have there own message board. Go talk about them on that board. Maybe BYU should move to the sunbelt play one good team a year, then argue how we should play for a NC every year. What a joke.

I guess we have similar predictions I was guessing Boise by 17. So I guess it's not like a huge smack down or anything but I think they easily handle the Hokies.



And must I restate that I honestly do not like Boise State? I mean other than like my cousin being a fan I pretty much can't stand that fan base at all, And those players really come off as a bunch of cocky sons of gitches, and maybe Blount was out of line when he punched that player taunting him, but could I say I wouldn't do something similar if put in that position. (Probably not punch that guy in the face or yell at the fans) If that puts it in perspective.

Did you see those prices? Were 2-3 times more than at LES, in some cases. Well, except for the Legacy stuff at LES. But the rest sure were a lot more. I suppose a smaller stadium creates greater interests that way, so they can charge it. Not like there is any other sport competing for those $$ up there.

Psh... I'm definitely not going to pay those prices... I no longer want to be a closet Boise fan!

Classic.... bsu cant even sell out all of their home games, they sold out only 1 last year. maybe they should man up and get a better schdule, then charge those prices.

No, the reason people write so much on here is because we have some very obstinate BSU/BYU fans who like to argue about BSU on here.

Who the hell can honestly argue against Boise State? There have been dozens of articles written about them playing in the national championship game this coming season, none about BYU. As a non-BCS fan, this would be awesome. Only the incredibly jealous few can't see past that, and I feel bad for those types... Though I wouldn't call Sno "obstinate" per say.
