Pitta to Baltimore in the 4th round

Baltimore takes Dennis off the board with the 16th pick in the fourth round, #114 overall using one of the picks they got from Denver in exchange for the Tebow pick.



Reunited with John Beck, but we'll see how much Baltimore utilizes him in a run heavy offense. They may be looking to integrate a receiving tight end to give Flacco an additional safety valve.

I see Baltimore wanting to get into more of a spread, pass happy offense, which makes this a good pick for them in that regard, but maybe not the ideal position for Pitta to go to, as there will likely be growing pains in terms of integrating him in.

Actually, this might be a terrible situation for Dennis. Not only is it an offense not keyed to his skill set, but he is their 2nd tight end pick of the draft after they took Dickson from Oregon in the 3rd round.

That's right, I had forgotten about Dickson.

Wish he would have just fallen four more spots to Houston, who just took a tight end.

When I saw were he was drafted my guts hurt.

Isn't Cam Cameron with Baltimore now as an asst?



Apparently the only thing he likes more than ruining the Miami Dolphins is messing with the careers of BYU Cougs.



They have Todd Heap, added Ed Dickson, then Dennis Pitta...



This is not an ideal situation unless they trade someone.

At least he has a good qb in Flacco. And it's a relatively succesful organization. I mean, he could be going to the lions...

I know this is crazy, but I actually like where the Lions are headed. That being said, they wouldn't have been a good fit for Pitta either. Stinky stink stinkerson.

Coming towards the tail-end of the 5th round and 10 TE's have been drafted thus far. Pitta was the 7th TE to be drafted.



Todd Heaps is their man, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Anyone know more about the Ravens offense, and if Pitta could have a chance to play anytime soon??? I'm assuming backup for Heaps, cause he'll outplay their first TE pick Ed Dickson from Oregon.

What's going through their minds is that Todd Heap is aging, his body isn't what is was nine years ago (nobody's is in the NFL), and his production has generally tapered despite a strong season last year. It's a business and they're planning for the future.



Regardless of who drafted Pitta, there are going to be guys on the roster who can play. He's going to have to earn his way onto the field whether it's in Baltimore or anywhere else.

There's that AND you want your successful TE to train his replacements for as long as he can while he still can.
