Sam Bradford, #1 overall pick goes to St Louis Rams.

Ain't that the same dude we laid out in the first half of the first game of the season? Seriously? # 1 overall pick and hasn't done anything noteworthy for 16 months?

Then Gerald McCoy gets the #3? He's good, sure, but he also got stood up by our rookie O-line and our 2nd and 3rd string RB's--including Kariya who had his first start ever and had the most yards of any RB in the game on both sides of the ball. That Gerald McCoy?

Wow, either this is the weakest draft ever, or...was that a pig that just flew by my window?

3 of the top 4 picks are from OU. BYU owns the top 5 of the draft.

Sam Bradford is the best quarterback to come out of college since Peyton Manning. The OU game was all about OU's o-line.

And on the topic of the draft, Jimmy Clausen is the next Ryan Leaf. There's a reason this Fool's-Golden Boy has fallen so far, and it has nothing to do with talent and upside. It has to do with the cold lesson the Chargers learned.

OU's D held BYU's prolific offense to 14 points which is a credit to their D. And Bradford's offense last year (not this year) was one of the most dominant offenses not to come out of Southern California.

Bradford should have gone high in the draft, the rest is just a matter of which team needs a QB, but not that nasty excuse for a TE. Gresham should not be above Pitta. NCAA's top TE last year who won the head to head match... it just makes me mad. Boiling mad.

Jerry Hughes to the Colts.

Awesome. Tear it up Jerry.

Let's hope Daniel Coats can finish his transition to FB.

With Mathis, Freeney and now Hughes the Colts own the best pass rushing d-line in the NFL!!

Couldn't be happier with this pick.

Some thoughts...

~OU's O-line last year will be better than that of the NFL team that picked Bradford up.

~McCoy (DT) is the real deal. He dominated the 2nd half of the game in Texas. I would know, I watched it in person. Dude is a BEAST!

~Yes, Pitta should go ahead of Gresham. Collie helped prove that. Besides, "The Firm" wasn't that great a book anyways.

~Hughes went in the first round. And despite how dominant he supposedly was in the MWC, he doesn't own the sack title all to himself. After going sackless against Boise State, he ended up sharing it... with Jan Jorgensen. Jan might make a name for himself in the NFL after all.

~QBs are 50/50, hit or miss, even the supposedly elite ones. You don't skip Suh, supposedly the best DT in the draft for 10 years, to take a maybe player. Let alone taking Tebow in the first round...

~Collie proved himself. Pitta will prove himself. I really think that Max Hall might prove himself as well. If Kevin Kolb can be a starter next year, Max has a chance eventually.

~The #1 pick in the 2014 draft... Jake Heaps! :D

Can anybody tell me why Hughes is listed as an OLB on ESPN? The Indy Star is also reporting him as an OLB. Am I missing something here?

NFL.com has him listed as a DE which is what he played in college.

ESPN is absolutely pathetic sometimes. Especially when it comes to non-BCS subjects.

The same reason Covey and Phillips are viewed as WRs at BYU, when they were QBs and RBs in high school.

Not really the same. Covey transitioned to WR after a year or 2. The Colts have every intention of playing Hughes as a DE, the same position he played in college...where does OLB come in?

Hughes is smaller and faster than most DEs. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make that switch at the next level.

Still with the Bengals, but he'd been taking occaisional snaps at FB, probably more than he'd been taking at TE.

The Bengals drafted Jermaine Gresham.

Hughes made the choice to declare himself an OLB. He worked out at the combine as an OLB, and that's how his agent has been selling him. Every draft rating service shows him as an OLB.

That doesn't mean a team has to take him as an OLB, it just means they thought he had a better shot at the first round as an OLB.

The only teams that would take him as a DE are teams that run a Tampa 2/Steel Curtain defense that utilizes undersized, quick defensive linemen (Chicago, Tampa, Indy, etc.), or maybe a team that uses the hybrid DE/OLB like New England, New York Giants, Denver, 49ers. Given that short list of 7 or so out of 32 teams, it was smart to label himself an OLB where is more prototypically sized.

Don't get ahead of yourself, there's that Heisman award first.

That makes a lot of sense actually, thanks for the insight. Hughes will be playing DE in Indy. It's a defense built around speed and Hughes fits that perfectly. I couldn't be happier with the pick. I feel sorry for the Offensive Tackle that has to deal with Freeney and Mathis all day and then when one of them subs out they have to deal with Hughes. Best pass rushing d-line in the NFL!!

Indy runs a 4-3, so I expect Hughes to play DE. If he went to a 3-4 team, he could play OLB, and would probably play the position Clawson played for BYU last year.
