The top non-BCS schools

" College football sources told FOX 26 Sports on Monday that a major U.S. company was commissioned to find the best candidates to become part of the BCS. The sources involved requested anonymity and asked that FOX 26 not divulge the company involved. Sources told FOX 26 that the company developed a list of eight schools who are members of conferences not affiliated with the BCS that are the best candidates to make the move:

Boise State University, University of Utah, University of Houston, Texas Christian University, Brigham Young University, University of Nevada, University of Hawaii and Fresno State University. "

I'll do the hired company a solid and cut the bull crap out of the non BcS with the real list:

Boise State, Utah, TCU, BYU

Now, since we live in a day where religious bigotry is strong BYU is the next to get the chop.

University of Houston, really? Don't see it.

School / FB RPI / BB RPI

Houston / 40 / 110

TCU / 9 / 188

Utah / 18 / 157

BYU / 12 / 23

Boise / 3 / 203

Factor in sizes of fanbases, relative importance ($$) of FB to BB , and you REALLY have some 'splainin to do to get Houston in front of BYU or TCU. I just don't see it.

Houston is a massive media market, so a large part of these evaluations are based upon the market size of the school because that means TVs on, which equates to $$$. No one compares to Houston in that regard. This is not just about athletics, it is driven by $$$. If it was purely driven by athletics, BYU is top of the list based upon its overall superiority as an athletic department.

Having said that Houston, SMU and TCU were both in the old SWC, and all got dumped for a reason. They are all in huge media markets, but those are markets that those teams do not carry. Texas, Texas A&M do, for the most part.
