Field Conditions

For those of you who attended the practice on Saturday, How did the field hold up? Were there divots being torn up? Was it better than the end of last fall? Does it seem we won't need to worry about it by September?

The stadium turf didn't look particularly good today, and Mendenhall declined to speculate on what if any plans are in the works to improve the turf's performance and/or durability next season.



Certainly, this time of year isn't necessarily conducive to tip-top field conditions, but after leaving Lavell Edwards Stadium, my daughter and I went over to South Field to watch the BYU Women's soccer team play Idaho State; the turf was remarkably green and lush for being so early in the growing season.

Wrubell thinks it's worse than the Women's soccer field, he's right. BYU got a crap field and I can't believe they haven't admitted that.

I thought the field held up quite well. It still has work to do, but I didn't notice HUGE divots like we did last year. It did get chewed up, just not in as large of pieces and it seemed to take longer to get chewed up.

Are you sure he was quoted correctly?...did he say a crap field or a field full of crap? It makes a difference on which shoes the team will wear...
