Anyone REALLY think Jimmer's leaving?

If there were a snowball's chance in a temple-marriage-honeymoon-suite that Jimmer would head to the NBA, do you really think BYU would be scheduling a game in Glens Falls, NY???

(let's forget that fact that Jimmer has some major holes in his game and isn't ready anyhow; this isn't about his readiness but concern that he might be convinced that he's better than he really is when it comes to NBA readiness)

If there wasn't a snowballs chance at that time, then why bother work on scheduling a game on the east coast against a perrenial tourney team? BYU knows that Jimmer = exposure and getting this done absolutely ensured that he'd come back.



If we had beaten KSU and Jimmer had an Arizona type game against them, I think Dave Rose would be shaking in his boots, simply because regardless of Jimmers defensive liabilities, he could parlay a performance like that into a late 1st early 2nd rd pick. With a possible NBA lockout on the horizon, that might have been enough to convince him to go and some bad GM may have pulled the trigger. There have been many NBA players that were overdrafted due in part to their NCAA tourney performance (chris wilcox, mateen cleaves, every florida player, even haffa, etc. etc. etc. )



Ironically, it's probably the Arizona game that pushed Glen Falls over the edge as wanting their hometown hero to play a game there.

Jimmer is a bright kid. Hands down one of my favorite BYU athletes of all time.

Yes, yes, unfortunately yes, I do very much think Jimmer is leaving. Something there with the NBA is going to work out, even if not the most attractive perspective and he is GONE.

I more of an NBA guy than a college guy. Assuming Jimmer only wants to come if he will be a first round pick, I think there is basically no chance of him coming out this year. He just is not an NBA level athlete. That means his skill level must be superlative. Jimmer is good but he isn't that good.

There is only ONE "attractive perspective" in the NBA for an underclassman and that is a garaunteed first round selection. Those are the only contracts that are garaunteed. Those are the only ones an underclassman should consider when making the decision on whether to hire an agent and remain in the draft or return to school. If you don't have several teams telling you you're a sure-fire first round pick, don't go.
