Would BYU take any of Utah's Refugees?

So Utah is looking more and more like a refugee camp with quite a lot of talent departing. Not that I'm disatisfied with any of our players, but let's say in bizzaro world that someone saw the light and wanted to come south.



Would we take them? And who would they replace?

Of course! We must be charitable and take them in...I think they could be pretty good ball boys or towell boys or whatever they are called....

If Carlon Brown will accept a 10 minute a game role, I'd take him in a heartbeat over Zylstra, Magnusson, or Martineau.



Considering he'd have to take a year off and he wouldn't accept the minimized role, it's a moot point.

I like Zylstra. What's sad, is that we can only think of one player on Utah who MIGHT see minutes on BYU's team.



I hope the MWC has Air Force and Utah play each other in the last game so they can see who gets to wear the home jersey in the 8-9 game.

Foster would start, I think. Watkins would get a lot of minutes. Both are better rebounders than anyone on our roster currently. Foster is an amazing defensive help with his shot-blocking ability, and we don't have anyone on our team with Watkins' combination of strength and aggression.

Would be ironic to take Hendseron for the one sole purpose of slapping his former team in revenge for getting slapped (by him).



He could play just one game. Find a Ute. slap them. Leave the team.

Foster would not start on BYU. He couldn't run the floor on offense. I don't think Rose would play 4 on 5 offense while we wait for Foster to lumber his way up the floor. And Foster is an AWFUL rebounder. Emery who is a foot shorter averaged more rebounds.



I'll give you Watkins. BYU could definitely use an aggressive rebounder like Watkins can be. But there is no way Foster starts on BYU. He would be a slight improvement over James Anderson, and I'm not sure I'd even make that trade.

Trent Witing seemed to be able to live it down. But he's probably the only one :)

It just occurred to me that possibly a bunch of those guys could have failed a piss test after partying together and Utah gave them a chance to accept a suspension or leave...... then I realized that half their football team would be gone too.

Simple answer is no. Why would the best program in the conference take any player from the 5th or 6th best program, especially given that not only would they have to sit out a year and lose an additional year of eligibility.



The Trent Whiting transfer was different. He was injured at Utah and was berated by the coach there on a continuous basis. He was the first player to break his silence and say enough is enough. Utah at the time was the best program in the conference and BYU was 4th or 5th and he made them instantly better. Also, I think this was shortly after Judkins left Utah to come to BYU, and that facilitated the change. Whiting was also LDS, and so it made the transition much easier.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say the best player on the 5th/6th best team might be good enough to replace the people toward the bottom of the roster. It's even possible that player might be good enough to flourish when surrounded by better talent.



However, looking at Utah's team specifically might be different and you might be right in this case.
