Some guys I noticed you were missing:

No Munns - do you see him transferring?



And I think we have one if not two Matthew brothers joining the team as WRs in the fall. Both are huge (6'4"+) and can run.



Ethan Manumaleuna will be back on the DL as well - likely backing up Fuga.



Also, I think Payne will be our primary FG/XP kicker while Stephenson will continue to be our punter.

Mitch Mathews is in florida on his mission (he's closer to 6'7" than 6'4")

Marcus was moved to TE for next year (we are very deep at TE; there will be a redshirt somewhere (Austin Holt will likely be redshirted); but we'll have a lot of big athletic guys for special teams)



The biggest miss on that list is Travis Tuiloma, who will push Fuga and Manumaleauna for DT time.



Also Bronson Kaufusi has already received his mission call and we won't see him for a while (same for Ho-Ching)(not sure about Remington Peck but I believe he's also mission bound)



Obviously Kaveinga won't play next year but will bring it on the scout team etc. He's only going to help make this linebacker grp better, even before he hits LES.



Injury: Is Speredon done? (not sure) Is Famika Anae done? (possible)



Is So'oto 100% welcome back (i.e. NCAA? if so I missed the article clearing him)





What jumps out on this list is the lack of depth on the Dline; inexperience at linebacker, youth (and depth) at TE, the exciting future of the receiver, online, and running back position AND the strength of our team in the secondary...

This entire depth chart would look scary (in a bad way) to me if 1. it was already fall and guys like Jameson Frazier/Thomas Bryson didnt' have time to put on the weight to play a position they could start at (I think he'll be 225 by september; he's worked too hard not to be) 2. Harvey Unga wasn't back (what a blessing) 3. If So'oto wasn't there we'd be dead to rights on the dline

I'd love to see this in a 3 deep by position. Give us a better idea of the depth, or lack of, at certain positions. I think our D will be young, but very talented, and our O line better dominate, because I expect us to run more this year as Harvey has a very capable big play back up this year. I just like hte number of real playmakers we have on offense with speed. That is just rare at BYU.

You gotta wonder if having Harvey, Quezada, Kariya, and DiLuigi won't force teams to stack the line. If so, there's an argument to start a quarterback that can exploit the one on on coverages that we'll see.



Does this mean that Harvey actually makes Jake Heaps a viable option because of BYU's threat in the running game? (no Harvey no Heaps?)



Can Riley Nelson make the throws required to take advantage of 6-7 defenders at the line? If not, we'd be in huge trouble. If he can, we're going to be big time because he brings the added weapon of the run when plays break down. (what do you think scares teams more a guy that can manage the team down the field or the one with big play potential that can exploit man coverage?)



If he can't, then someone else will have to take the job; no one can be expected to run much consistently with 5-6 in the box.



It'd be different I think if we had no viable running game and needed a qb to generate runs; in this case I think there's a case to be made for a guy that can take advantage of single coverage when teams inevitably decide to take away our productive run game.

(note: this flies in the face of what I've said in the past... I simply am not in love with the idea of starting a true freshman)

When was Richard Wilson and Remington Peck moved to other positions(both played TE in high school)??? Wilson switched to linebacker and Peck went to defensive line.



According to Scout.com... Wilson was a 4-star and the 9th best TE in his class.



I just expected to see Wilson tear it up for us at TE in the future.

They tried Wilson at LB last year during his redshirt, but moved him back to TE this year. He is smaller in height (6'2") than the others, but faster. I think they really like him at TE for his speed, but is undersized compared to Muelhlemann and Mahina. He is just a RS Freshman, but I expect to see him playing some this year. We are REALLY young at that position, but talented.

We are extremely young at TE. Two are Jr.'s(Matthew Edwards and Jordan Lower) and four are Freshman(Devin Mahina, Mike Muehlmann, Richard Wilson, Marcus Mathews).



The awesome thing about our TE's is... Two freshman are really shining during spring ball, Mahina and Muehlmann. I think both of them will have very long and productive careers.



Speaking of the scout team that was mentioned in the previous posts. Is there a list of last years scout team and will there be a list for our upcoming season??? I would like to know who was on the scout team last season.

BYU hasn't released an official depth chart since the 2006 season. I expect that KSL's Cougar Tracks blog by Greg Wrubell will help though...

Everytime I try to do a list like this I quickly realize what a headache this must all be for BYU's athletic department. You got recruits, commits, red-shirts, grey-shirts, walk-ons, missions, transfers, injuries, juco players, academics, an honor code, and so forth and so on. It's a lot to try to keep track of.



The media is never very good about back-up players leaving for missions. Does anyone know for sure what happened to the players listed below? Most are serving now I would think, but some probably got injured, others tried to earn a schollie and realized that they weren't good enough, and others, who knows?

If we get good QB play it isn't. Reminds me of the Utes last year, to be honest. Had loads of experience elsewhere, except at QB. That is why they weathered QB issues so well. I expect us to do the same. We will be better than expected, much like 2007.

I've kinda followed Bateman since he played H.S. in Cali, and I heard he went on a mission.



Fono Vakalahi who was in Bateman's same class said, "I was thinking of trying to put in my papers first and leave on a mission before enrolling at BYU,” Vakalahi said. “That way I can come back and redshirt for a year and have four years to play.
