2010 Schedule Released

What I like about the schedule:



We don't play Air Force the week before playing Utah. That should help us be healthy. Hopefully, though, we don't end up losing anyone for the season as a result of playing Air Force the second game of the year.



TCU does not have a bye before playing us this year. Too bad we also don't have a bye before playing TCU.



What I don't like:



Too many of our games will be the Mtn.

But at least the MTNHD will be here for the entire season. Isn't that what we've been crying for? And as for me, the MTNHD that I've seen has looked pretty good.

As for the schedule, I'm not too thrilled about playing Air Force the second week of the season, but Air Force's new coaching staff seems to have killed off the late season fade that used to be typical Air Force.

Second observation, after playing @ TCU on October 16, BYU only leaves the state of Utah once for the rest of the season. Just a quick jump over to CSU. But playing 5 of the last 7 in state could make for a late season run similar to what we saw Utah pull off with a freshman quarterback last year.

Doesn't matter which QB gets the start. They will see some tough teams to start.

We can get a lot of momentum going into the Utah game

Anyone can switch, besides, DirecTV is a far superior product, even without the Mtn.

Air Force for our second game of the season??? How crappy is that??? Why can't we have all our OOC games before we dive into our conference schedule???



We get at home: Washington, Nevada, San Diego, Wyoming, UNLV, and New Mexico.



Our best home game will be Washington... Then maybe Nevada, cause all our conference home games are all bottom dwellers(based on last years overall record). Talk about real snooz-fests.

Would you rather have the bye week the second week of the season? I'm glad we've got AFA on 9/11. Not only does it give the new QB one more game experience before FSU, but under Bronco, we've never struggled with the Falcons, even though they have been pretty good the past few years under Calhoun and have even given teams like TCU and the pukes trouble. Now the bye is preserved for the middle of the season when it will be nice to have a break to rest some potentially ailing bodies.

All BYU's games will be in HD this year. I'm curious to see what excuses people will find to still complain about the TV deal.

Bronco said after the schedule release he would rather have the bye week instead of Air Force. I personally would like that as well.

If we're worried about "potentially ailing bodies" by the second week... We've got some serious issues to worry about for the remainder of the season. Even though having the bye week for later in the season will be nice, but I've voiced by opinion and would rather play all our OOC games first.

I second this.

Well, true to form, it didn't take long, just like I suspected. Some people will never be happy unless its ESPN. I'm just hoping we have as few games on VS as possible. I say bring on the Mtn games. At least we win those ones.

I think it works out well for us to have Air Force the week after we have Locker/Washington. But I don't like having to follow up a road to to Air Force with a road trip to Tallahassee, I think we need more time to prepare for Fla St. and then we come back to play Kaepernick/Nevada. I It's hardly the end of the world, but if I would prefer to have Washington first, a bye, then Fla St., then Utah State, Nevada, and then Air Force.

You lost me. You did read what I said about the "potentially ailing bodies" coming mid-season where the bye has been scheduled, right? You shouldn't really have to worry about ailing bodies the second week of the season. At least, I doubt the Huskies bite will be worse than their bark. The last few "BCS" programs we've played (UW, UCLA, OU) have spent more time on the turf than the Cougars have. So much for being bigger, better and stronger.



As for Bronco's quote, I'm sure he would have liked to have had a bye that week but I also think he was probably just showing some humility in his quote and showing some praise to the Falcons. He's had their number ever since he's become the coach. The one team AFA has struggled the most with during the last five years is BYU. They've beaten all the others in conference at least once during that time. But BYU's fundamentally sound defense always gives them fits. And their defense has rarely ever slowed our offense. True, we've got a whole new cast of characters this time around but Bronco has shown the past few years that in the offseason, they have game-planned well for the first couple games of the season before taking the "one game at a time" approach. You have to, because you really don't have any footage on them anyway to evaluate. As such Bronco will have the boys ready for UW and AFA.



Again, it may have been nice to have a bye the week before FSU game. But I'd rather catch them early in the year when they are still trying to come together. They've got a bunch of question marks too and have to replace a lot including the team identity under a new coach. Plus, all three of the first few games will feature a mobile QB. So that will be the focus early on and UW and AFA will only be good practice for FSU. I'd rather have the new starters have one more week of experience against a D1 opponent that have an additional week to prepare for FSU. And I believe that Bronco's primary focus this offseason may be in fact the FSU game. We know that he did it with UCLA in 2008 even though they were the third game of the year. Just look at the beat down we put on them and how we in comparison struggled (only in points really, we blew them away in all the stats) with a bad UW team and didn't even look that great against UNI. But they busted out the perfect game plan for UCLA (the team they thought would be the most difficult on the schedule) including the revealing of the nickel formation on defense. I think you'll see Bronco want payback for the beatdown in Provo last year at the hands of the Criminoles. I'm not saying we'll start the season 3-0 next year. In fact I think it'll be unlikely. But I don't think it's out of the question either, even without a second week bye.

If I lost you... It's cause we're talking about two different situations. Our goal is to win conference championships(as Bronoc and Doman have been preaching). I think we need to have all our OOC games first, so when it's time for conference play... We'll be clicking on all cylinders.



Does that mean we overlook Washington, Florida St., etc...? Not at all. We still need to win those game, too. Your explanations make sense for our OOC games, and the way our schedule is now. I was just saying we need to play our OOC games first and then conference games first.



I'm more worried about Washington and Florida St. for the first half of our season than any other games. I can't wait to see how our D handles Locker with his running ability(where we need more improvement as that's one of our weaknesses).

The Mtn in HD does not good for those of us with audio either.

There's a simple solution for that. It's called the 'mute' button. No one is forcing you to listen to these broadcasters that obviously so much worse than ESPNs fine-quality crews.

Why is anyone worried about Air Force. Bronco doesn't struggle to beat Air Force. Period. We win and we win going away. Bronco does not win close games against Air Force. He blows them out. I have seen nothing to make me believe 2010 will be any different than the previous five years.
