New mascot for BYU football

Because maybe we need a new mascot. Anytime we yell "BYU Cougars", someone is thinking Terri Hatcher or Demi Moore.



So I propose we become the "BYU Great Danes". We can use the dog pictured below, all 245 pounds, and maybe even bring back live mascots on the field. And replace the haka with Danish viking war chants.

Hey, if people want to think Courtney Cox, Demi Moore, Teri Hatcher, etc when talking BYU sports, that is fine by me. I am sure the Houston Cougars and Wazzou Cougars are fine with it too. Word association with hot chicks is a GOOD thing.

And you'd have the added problem that Dane Crowton would think that HE is the new mascot... ;)

My wife is attending the University at Albany (State Univ. of NY) and their mascot is a Great Dane.

I don't think it's a good look for a sports team. The whole "cougar = hot older woman" thing will pass. Cougar football was here first and will still be here after.



I can only imagine what the SUNY Albany sports teams had to endure when scooby-doo was popular.

Apparently the mascot was changed to the Great Danes from the "Pedagogues" ... I don't imagine the ratification vote was that close.

Swoop sounds like a big loser that spends his free time at Valley Fair Mall trying to find change to get another earing. That should be Utah's mascot.

Well, if we are going to remain the Cougars, I propose we rename the SuperFans, CougarsUnited, or whatever the weak student-fan organization calls itself currently to now be named:
