They played well tonight. Now they are in the quarterfinals (that is what the announcers said). Are the semi's in NY?

Even though it is women's basketball (yawn) and the NIT on top of that, I'm surprisingly stoked for how well they're doing.

a little off topic: I always wonder how the 15 and 16 seeds in the NCAA tournament (men's or women's) would fair against the teams that go deep in the NIT (are Lehigh and East Tennessee St. really better than UCONN and North Carolina even in their down years)

The ladys play at Cal at 6 PST tonight. It looks like there is no tv of it.

I don't care how much better they are. It's this kind of thinking that has the expansion talk gaining ground. If the NCAA tourney expands to 96 teams, you can bet nearly all of those additional 31 teams are going to be coming from the power conferences.

This is why people like Bilas, Digger, Vitale et al are upset at UAB and VCU getting into the NCAAs over the likes of Colorado and Virginia Tech. The purpose of expanding the tournament wasn't to add more teams, it was to add more "power conference" teams. They're mad that their boys didn't make it in. Virginia Tech and Colorado are seriously flawed teams, just like UAB and VCU, so the committee went with the non-power guys.
