Question about the grass?

This may seem odd to those of you in Provo but I know the spring game was canceled last year officially because of the grass at the stadium. Then we saw terf flying around at each home game and it was a bit embarrassing to say the least.



Does anyone have an idea if they got it fixed over the last summer??? Doesn't seem it would have taken so long last year and I'd hate to see it as bad this year.



Do they practice at the stadium at all in the spring or only on the practice fields???

My friend's dad owns a landscaping company in SLC. He told me that BYU had some sort of fix in the works and had a bunch of companies quote the job. Im not sure what the specfics are and I asked again Friday. he said he would find out for me and let me know.

Funny you ask, we just delivered 3 truckloads of artificial turf and a bed of crumb-rubber to fill it.























Just kidding. Hopefully the field will get better though. They deserve a serious refund.

From what I understand (my friends son-in-law is part of the team at BYU that manages the field) there were two contributing factors:



1. There was a huge sand storm that hit the company as they were cutting the sod to transport it to BYU. It damaged the sod.

2. There wasn't enough time for the roots to take hold well enough to handle the wear and tear of the full season.



He says it should be fine this fall after another full growing season.

See, I don't quite buy this explanation. The field that the BCS championship game was played on was laid less than a week before the game and it was almost perfect.



They just picked the wrong type of grass, didn't plant it appropriately and we ended up with an awful product.

exactly. teams replace the their grass weeks before games all the time.



speaking of grass. California is trying to make it legal to not pass on grass. Will be on the ballot this fall.
