Pullen Has Figured Out How to Guard Jimmer...

body check and hand check him non-stop once you figure out that the refs aren't gonna call it.

Pullen playing phenomenal Defense. That's a guy that knows how to get it done.

The other thing I'm wondering about is he doesn't let Jimmer walk it up, he makes him play from court to court including a couple of TO's. For a guy who looks tired, it's harder to make a move when you've already had to make 3 just to get it to that side of the court.

I'm not a basketball know-it-all by far, but why doesn't Jimmer call Pullen on it and draw the foul? If Pullen cuts him off and Jimmer runs into it, then odds are he'll get called for it, if Pullen's feet are set... Correct???

Pullen is to savvy for that. He's just a flat out good defender.

KState knew the Cougs would be tired after their marathon affair with FL,and they took advantage like a smart team will.

I especially enjoyed how Tavernari's jersey gently touched a K-state Player and gets called a foul, but when Loyd went flying into the media, and then Tav did too, but no calls.



Refs are ruining their chances. I'm DONE watching ALL basketball not involving BYU. And it's due to biased (my opinions), inconsistent reffing. Saying that, I'm okay if K-state goes all the way.

I told myself (and my wife) that I wouldn't get upset during this game, but I woke up my child yelling after Pullen got his 3rd and Jimmer (doing just the right thing) posted him up and drew the foul. Did the ref call it? Of course not...I went beserk. Total BS and that would've turned the game around at that point. That takes Pullen out of the game with 8 or so mins to go and we had a real good chance. Instead Jimmer misses the shot, nothing is called and Pullen goes on to play significant minutes and shoot 100% everything til the end. We might not have won still, but the refs called a black and white game (as in most calls will go against the unathletic white guy when in doubt).

I agree completely, except for the black vs white thing.



Pullen got away with murder because Jimmer is known to be unstoppable without sacrificing a player to fouls. Well, the officials intended to take the "Jimmer Offensive" away from us. Pullen should have fouled out before the first half was over. Instead, the officials allow Pullen to neutralize Jimmer and wear him out. I am sure that Jimmer would have scored at least 15 more points without that official immunity for Pullen, and Pullen would not have been around to celebrate later by hitting endless threes. Pullen even got away with hitting Fredette in the face, in blatantly aggressive fashion with a hard hand-check, giving Jimmer a bloody nose (with no call). No one can truthfully say that this game would have gone the same way had the officials been fair regarding Pullen. As a last point, recall how the officials went into make-up mode with about eight minutes left, once BYU was tired and frustrated. Pullen picked up three fouls in rapid succession, driving the KSU coach absolutely nuts. But considering that Pullen continued the same style of play afterwards, why then did the make-up calls cease for him after his fourth foul?



There were other issues with the officiating that were inequitable, but not game killers like the policy of leniency for Pullen. It took away our greatest asset, and emboldened Pullen to get hot, and go on to have the game of his life. Anyone who wishes can call me a poor sport; it's just sticks-and-stones---but what's the point of watching basketball anyway it it's not for real?



Our Cougs would have had their hands full with this strong and fast KSU team anyway, but I think our guys deserve praise for making it a game none the less. This BYU team is very praiseworthy and heroic as far as I am concerned.
