SenorCougarAfter watching the replay late last night on my DVR, the announcer for CBS made a couple of comments that I wondered about. Is it true that:
1) It's not when the timeout was called by the player, it's when the referee acknowledges the timeout. He repeatedly said this when Emery called the timeout at the end of regulation. It seems to me that I've watched games where the officials, during the timeout, review the play so they get the right amount of time of the clock. So if I understand the commentator correctly, if the ref doesn't want to acknowledge the timeout, he can end the game?
2) Travelling. He also made the comment that you can slide as far as you want on the floor, but it became a travelling violation when he turned "onto his stomach". Really? I had a basketball class when I was a student and we had to watch an instructional video on rules. In that video, it indicated that falling down does not constitute travelling; however, if the player gets back up, then it is travelling (I assumed it was because his established pivot foot, at that point, has changed?). Does anyone know the rule? Or is it subjective? An NBA star can take as many as three steps and no call......
Just curious. I sensed a little bit of "Go Gators" from the announcers, or at least from the analyst ...........
