Jackson Emery Saved Our Season

He may not have had a great game (although good D), but he literally saved out season.



If he did not hit that clutch three in regulation, we lose that game. Plain and simple. I HIGHLY doubt we win that game otherwise.



Not that we will, but if we made a freak run to win the national title, I would liken Jackson and that shot to the BYU vs. Hawaii game where that guy jumped over the line to slow up their QB.

I agree. We were sunk. And then Emery made that great play. Loyd kept making plays after that.

I still give it to Loyd. He was clutch, scored when we needed it, scored all our points in the 1st OT. Yeah, ALL of them. Plus, he scored 26 pts on 10 shots. Let me repeat. 26 pts on 10 shots. That is 2.6 pts per shot and is amazing efficiency. The Emery 3 was huge, but without Loyd today, we lose.

Not that I don't agree that Loyd saved us big time, but what I'm saying is on that single play I think we definitely lose if Jackson doesn't make it. Whereas I don't think there was a single Loyd play where if he hadn't made it, we would have definitely lost.

After we blew that 13 point lead, it seemed like, right when we needed it, somebody stepped up. Emery with that shot, Loyd with a handful of "holy crap!" moments, and Jimmer with the nail(s) in the coffin at the end.



Seriously, how great of a story is Loyd, season-wise? Came out of nowhere to be the hero/almost-hero throughout the end of the season.

That game was crazy, i was on pins and needles. All around it was a great team effort. Emery played some monster D today. Loyd was off the chain. Cmon north texas pull off the upset.

Lloyd saved our season. Who was the only player to score a single point in the first overtime???? ehh??? Thats right. Michael Lloyd!

Again, I agree that all and all, Loyd saved us. I guess I should have phrased it as "that play saved our season". Yes, Loyd had a combination of many plays that definitely saved our hides. I just mean that if you're looking at ONLY one play, it was that one.

Emery always looks out-classed in these games. He can only score on forced 3's.

Very true. no doubt though it was looking very bleak until emery nailed that three! I think it was truly a team effort. when we needed someone to step up someone did whether it was jimmer, lloyd or jackson

Lloyd definately saved us in the first over-time, and he did it with three, different, very athletic shots. He also made a big three-pointer in the second OT that seemed to take the pressure off Jimmer, who had gone on a little dry spell, and wasn't getting all the shooting foul calls that he deserved inside. If we're looking for the ultimate play that WON the game, then I think Lloyd's OT trey was it. That was a key moment because it put us seven points up, after some lost opportunity with missed field goals. Once we had the seven point lead back, then Jimmer became The Assassin again.



However, I think that Emery has been my favorite player for the season as a whole, due to his three-point shooting average and his great defensive play. On the other hand, I really appreciate Jimmer for his over-all point production and interesting moves inside against big men. Jimmer's 37 points and disposal of his defender on fouls early in the last OT, are two things that also seem to shout: "game MVP."

I am just glad the argument is who did a better job helping with the win...rather than who lost this game for us. It is a nice change in the Tourney.

every possesion mattered, every shot was equally as important- when it goes to double OT, it really means that either team could have won..(it truly was a coinflip) .however Emery had the big shot that he couldn't muster vs UNLV and UNM



we've been on the other side of the equation; who cares about style points right now (just ask Vandy, Nova, etc. all that matters is the W or lack of)



It's starting to sink in (I've been a BYU hoops fan since I could tie my own shoes) and just like the football wins over Utah this decade, eventually the manner in which we won this game will be more legendary than if we had managed to salvage that 13 point lead (which we should have done)



I can't get beyond relief yet, my palms are still sweaty, my heart is still beating hard, and I can't concentrate on much else (in spite of the fact that there's a lot of tremendous hoops going on)



the monkey is off.... nothing else matters to me (not even the fact that golfdive spent 4 minute chatting with my daughter before I realized she had called him back... I thought my wife was on the phone)

In interest of full disclosure, for those that sounds REALLY weird to, it's HARD to get a 2 year old who's really excited that there's finally a voice on the other end while playing phone, to "Give the phone to Daddy, please, sweetheart..." She's quite the lovely little conversationalist.

How about - without Loyd & Emery - we would have lost! That's a no B.S. deal. They were both crucial & critical @ the right time!! Bueno for the Cougs. Bueno for Loyd & Emery stepping up - BIG time!!!
