"Brigham Young's Dennis Pitta was scheduled to work out today for the New England Patriots, according to an NFL source. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end finished his collegiate career as the Cougars' all-time leader in receptions with 216 catches. He also has a visit scheduled with the Cincinnati Bengals on April 5-6."



I definitely think either of those situations could be very good for Dennis, but I still love the thought of him playing in Indy most. And despite how good Clark is I don't think it would be long before they traded him for the more youthful Pitta and will allow them to unload some of their higher contracts.

How does everyone conveniently forget to mention that Pitta is the all-time catchingest tight end not just in BYU school history, but in NCAA history!?

It's possible that the answer is found in three letters contained in your question. They are B, Y, and U. We don't play in a BCS conference, so our opposition isn't as good. Our good players are a product of a system, and therefore not as good as their statistics might suggest. We are still paying a price for playing bo-diddly tech in 1984. Our team and players don't get enough exposure because of our TV contract.



I'm sure other posters have more suggestions. Happily, I think PItta will put all that behind him when he makes it in the NFL. I hope the Pitta-George combination mirrors the Lewis-Mili combination. Both Chad Lewis and Itulu Mili played in the NFL following their BYU careers.

Ohhhhhhhh, me likey!!!! The Patriots situation at tight end is comical at best. I hope they take him with one of their 3 2nd round picks!!!!!
