Haws Update??

Anybody have an update on Tyler Haws condition?? His eye with the orbital fracture looked horrible that night against UNLV. They kept showing him on camera and it looked like it was glued shut. Not sure if he can even open it yet due to all the swelling.

From what I understand he is day to day. They are just waiting for the swelling to go down.

He says that he plans to start on Thursday, and that he won't wear any type of facemask because a blow to the face won't worsen the injury, as it is internal.

We're all wishing Tyler the best. A full, fast & complete recovery. I know it's Tyler's prerogative - but my advice would be - wear that stinkin' mask!!!!!!! Protect your face and eye. You know - we all know - it's going to get hit - probably more than once. It's be like a red flag to a bull!! Best of luck Tyler (wear the mask!!).

At least his eye is open now. You wonder how good his peripheral vision is though??

Wow, it did NOT look like he got hit that hard. I'm still trying to figure out how that resulted in an INTERNAL orbital fracture. The actual hit brought back memories of Henderson hitting Emery. When it first happened I thought it was a good acting job.

Dude. Did watching that video make anybody else's eyes itch and water??? What's funny is that it was more my right eye than my left (mirroring Tyler's left. Funny how the human brain works...).



Looking at how bloodshot the white of his eye was reminds me of an interesting look I had in my younger days:

No muscle or bone damage, and I didn't look like Quazimoto, but I was mistaken for Satan a few times. In case anyone's curious, next time you're freediving (no air - only snorkel), here's a tip: don't wait til 50 feet before you equalize your sinus pressure. ;)

Actually, this picture was taken about a week later and had lightened CONSIDERABLY. When it first happened, the entirety of the whites were as dark as the really dark spot below my right eye there (to the left as you look at me). It was about a month before the red faded completely, and another month that the whites were a really jaundiced looking yellow (I assume stained from the plasma after all the actual red-blood cells disintegrated. Not exactly sure though, any Doctors willing to share any expertise?).

Holy Crap man! I bet a lot of people did mistake you for Satan. Bet the antis were all over you haha.

Well, what was funny about it was that after about 3 days I'd forget all about it (Not like I look in the mirror all that often. Ask my wife...), so it always took me a bit to realize why kids in places like grocery stores would look at me frightened, but then follow me around at a safe distance for a better look...

Still, makes a person memorable, the Cafe Rio dude remembered me 3 years later ('course, I wasn't there infrequently, even after the eyes went back to normal).

You should have gone into a liquor store and said, "I WANT A KEG OF BEER" in a deep voice. You probably could have scored a free keg of beer. Not that you would want the keg of beer, but just to see if it would work for you like it did for Michael J. on Teenwolf.

I fractured an eye orbital in a nasty fall about 20 years ago in the Army. My eyeball was blood red like that and I was cross-eyed for two weeks before it straightened out. Doesn't sound like his vision has been effected that bad so maybe his wasn't as bad. The red eye doesn't affect anything though and just looks wicked. Lets hope he gets the swelling down and is ready to play.

Good news for the Coug's

No vision problems or damage to the globe (eyeball) itself. If the eyelids aren't too swollen he will be able to see just fine.
