It could have only been worst had we been a 8 seed having to play Kansas, but playing a VERY GOOD Kansas State team in a virtual home game for them will require a bit of a miracle enroute to Salt Lake City...

Bartlesville is basically a Tulsa suburb; Hartsock and the locals will be rooting for BYU. As will I. They hate all things Kansas too so the walk up locals will be rooting for us in both games.



It would be great if North Texas would beat Kstate !! So I'll be rooting fothe mean green too. (I think that's Kathy Irelands alma mater ;) )

I was REALLY tempted to drive down there and go to Thursday's game (it's about a 7-8 hour drive from Des Moines), but too many other commitments, and I really couldn't afford taking the days off. I may take a really long lunch on Thursday to watch the game on-line. :whistle:

I think I may have had my wife on the fence about going up to Rhode Island if we were bracketed there (8 hrs from DC). But when we came up on the Selection Show as playing in OK City, she turned to me and said,

"NO."

At 21 hours (and toting a 2-year old), can't say as I blame her.

There is a good LDS base in Tulsa and OKC, and Dallas is about 3 hrs from OKC, so I expect BYU to have a good support there. Better than Florida. And if they win Thursday, I bet BYU has a bigger crowd for Saturday.

If the Kansas State - Kansas rivalry is anything like BYU - Utah, don't you think the Kansas fans would be cheering for BYU over KSU? I know I'd be cheering for KSU over Utah if that were the game before me :)

I'm not sure the KU-KSU rivalry is as nasty as the BYU-Utah rivalry, but it is pretty harsh. KState is like the little sister to KU in basketball, I can imagine there will be a lot of KU fans wanting to see KState put back into their proper place. I think BYU gets pretty good support in OKC. OKC is not exactly right next door to Manhattan, KS (nothing really is), so it will take a road trip to get the fans down there as well.

If you are a Kansas fan another reason for them to want BYU over KSU is their belief no doubt that a game against BYU would be easier for them than another game against their rival. So, in the end, if they hate kSU they ought to cheer for us. If they want the underdog, they ought to cheer for us. And if they are logical they ought to cheer for us....

If I was there, I would Cheer for BYU AND UNLV, we need the MWC to look good.

It's a three hour drive from Bartlesville to OKC, so only those pretty close to the Hartsocks will be down for the games. I wish both wards and half the town would show up en masse, but alas, I don't think that is in the cards, especially when there is still another day in the work week after the Florida game.



On the other hand, there are some BIG basketball fans in Bartlesville. I once attended a seven overtime game between the (then) two local high schools, and our two wards' basketball teams regularly cleaned house on the region (which extended from southern Ok and western AR to southern MO.
