Haws update?

Tyler Haws left with a bloody nose and blurred vision after only playing a few minutes. Anyone know any updates? Will he be able to play tonight?

The big question on the minds of BYU fans tonight is probably the condition of Tyler Haws.

Haws took a blow to the face early in the second half and did not return. He had eight points.

Coach Dave Rose said Haws took a poke in the eye, and also had a bloody nose.

“Tyler got poked in the eye and hit in the face all at the same time,” Rose said. “He was bleeding from his nose. I think it was reported that he was bleeding from his eye. That’s not the case. He was poked in the eye and has blurred vision.

“We hope that it will be OK. We got the bleeding in the nose stopped. Hopefully he will be OK and be ready to go tomorrow. We will just have to see how he progresses.”

The big issue per Wrubell seems to be the swelling. If he can get that eye open, he should be available, but if not, Cyclops is going to be on the bench. Hard to play basketball without depth perception.



It'll be interesting if Haws doesn't play to see which Charles Abouo comes to play--the Abouo we saw in Fort Worth on Saturday, or the Abouo who showed up last night just to get 4 fouls in 9 minutes.

I kid, I kid. I hope he is able to play tonight and that his vision is good.

If haws doesn't play don't you think coach rose starts Loyd over abouo. considering matchups and the way he has been playing lately I think that would be good against UNLV. I also think Davies gets big minutes tonight due to matchups as well.

I would have to agree with his assessment (or is he agreeing with me :roll: )

If Lloyd starts tonight, which I think he will, do you play him at the point and move Jimmer to the 2? Or do you just have Lloyd play in place of Haws?

I would guess fredette stay at the point, but they will both have significant time handling the ball as UNLV will be pressuring most of the game and BYU likes to move it around anyway.

I expect us to start with Abouo in place of Haws. We will definitely need the extra rebounding that Charles can bring.
