MTN in HD

I tuned in to the HD version of the MTN yesterday during the Air Force/Wyoming game, and lo an behold, it was being broadcast in HD (DirecTV). Even though the directory didn't show that it would be on, it was. I'm hoping that will still be the case tonight when the Cougars play. 8)

I'm not totally sure, but I'm actually pretty sure that from now on for the most part, games on the Mtn. there should no longer be that grainy screen. So whether it will be in HD or not I guess is different but I believe from now on for the most part they are going to be using a bit higher grade cameras. As I said I'm not certain about this. It's something that I believe I heard although it might be a rumor. Although I think it's safe to say that a hand held camera is an upgrade from the cameras the Mtn. uses now. (As seen on that you tube video with Jackson and Henderson during the Utah game). Here's to hoping this is true!

It's on my Guide for DirecTV, but the times are all screwy. The BYU-TCU game on the HD channel (616-1) starts and ends an hour before the SD feed per the guide.



I'm guessing that there is some mixup and that the HD feed was scheduled in the Guide at MST instead of CST, but I'm not terribly confident in the MTN, so I'm just recording a 5 hour block to be certain.

I noticed on Comcast that the quality of the picture was significantly better for the BYU-TCU game last week then it usually is. Is the MTN on its way to becoming a legit TV network?

Earlier in the season, I e-mailed the MTN and asked them why they didn't broadcast basketball in HD after they had started broadcasting Football in HD. They responded (quite politely, actually), indicating that they were hoping to get there, but it was a matter of having the funds. I'm guessing that the ad revenue projected for the tournament put them over the top and allowed them to start the HD process for BBall as well.
