BerliNYLet me preface this by saying that when they announced the Deseret First Duel I threw up a little in my mouth because it felt like they were trying to corporatize a rivalry that doesn't need anything (much less a corporate sponsorship) to get the blood flowing. That said, the "duel" has grown on me a bit in the years since (although I would still trade a Football win for a stack of duel trophies every day of the week and twice on Sunday).
Anyway, I hadn't heard this mentioned anywhere but I took a peek at the latest tally and it appears that since BYU is ahead 37 to 10, with only 14 points still up for grabs (over 9 events: baseball, softball, etc.) that BYU has clinched the trophy for the season. Last week BYU mens and women's bball teams beat down on the ewe so prior to that BYU had only had a 17 point lead with 24 points up in the air, so those two wins clinched the trophy.
Did I miss something? Like I said, I hadn't heard about it, maybe (hopefully) that's a sign that no one care about the "DFD" but I just thought I'd throw this out there.
