Did coach Rose come on here last week?

Because he played Abouo a lot on Saturday. I was hoping he'd give him a lot of minutes and he did and it payed off I think. Abouo played a great game all across the board. We need him down the stretch as well as Haws. If both are playing like they can we are a very hard team to beat. They each bring different elements to the game that we'll need during the tournament. I'm feeling really good about our team right now. MWC tourney champs here we come!

I think Coach Rose is loyal to his older guys. And I think it is painfully obvious that they are not getting it done, and that the experience they offer is not enough to compensate for the lack of results. At least, I hope. The young bigs need more minutes in the MWC tourney leading up to the NCAA run.

What older guys (plural) are you talking about? The only one I can think of is Miles.

My understanding was Rose yanked the starters because they weren't getting it done to send a message to the starters. The Loyd, Abuou and company went in to the game hungry and wanting to prove themselves. Sends a message to the starters and gives the bench some much needed PT.

At times, Tavernari. He is as streaky as can be. When he is off, Abouo definitely deserves a chance at those minutes.

Tavernari has been playing great and he's not a starter. Also Abouo plays the 3 and Tavernari plays the 4, so I'm not sure I understand what your point is.

Just saying Abouo deserves more minutes. His athleticism adds alot to this team, just like Loyd's speed. Whether they come from Haws, Tav, Emery or whoever, does not really matter. Whoever is off that night. Of course, I hope they are all on each night, but that is not the reality.

Just glad to see the bench guys playing so well lately. That kid of depth can only help the team win more games.

Let's just say it...the oreo-filling lineup cannot make any more appearances here on out. I know, I know, that lineup got us here. However, we are not going to play the same soft schedule that got us here either. I've said it before and I'll say it again, D and rebounding win tourney games, not pure offense and transition--those elements for the most part get taken away in March. The lineup that got us going in the TCU game will be our most important by far because it's the most complete lineup we have bar none.

Actually, right now Coach just asks me to send him a weekly summary of all the topics we've discussed, highlighting the personnel changes and scheme adjustments.

It's the only way I can afford hot dogs at the Marriott Center!

The way Jimmer, Miles, Hartsock and Haws came out to start the game, you'd have to be Jim Boylen to leave them in there. We were at the game 25 rows up, and we could hear Rose's "choice" words for the starters as they got yanked.

I don't think he read the boards as much as he read his players. They needed some fire, and splinters from the bench make good tinder.

True, but Jimmer and Hartsock got a lot more minutes than Haws and Miles. Haws only had 8 minutes. I'm glad that Rose is willing to go with who's playing the best. At times I've questioned whether or not he's had the guts to do that, but hopefully he continues the trend of playing who's hot or sitting who's not.

Jimmer got into a bit of a groove and JT and Emery have total confidence in their shot right now which is very dangerous for other teams.

I understand your hesitation to see things mixed up because it can mess things up and that's why I wanted it to be down vs TCU because the game didn't matter a whole lot. Now Rose knows that he doesn't have to hesitate to use his bench a lot if he has to. In fact at times I think Rose didn't use or trust his bench enough, but I think he's overcome that now.

I think, for the most part, the entire team has a good chemistry. I actually think the chemistry has been better recently with more of the "bench" players in. I think the starters got a little too used to just standing back and waiting for Jimmer to do something.

I agree. I think it's easy to get in a rut expecting someone to take over. Nice to see the mix and match game.
