Big 12 Knows BYU

I just spent the weekend in Missouri with a dozen Mizzou, Nebraska (most loyal), Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State fans-graduate students and faculty. I spoke for several minutes with multiple people about football and each knew BYU, even women knew that BYU had a crazy passing attack. I was surprised at the details they brought up.



The funny thing is that nobody knew who Utah was. Seriously. I didn't have to bring up BYU once. When I said I was from Utah, each person guessed I was from BYU, the Cougars, the team that beat OU. Maybe that's why, but Utah did win the Sugar bowl. Anyways, several times I had to explain we actually have a few D1 schools, and people still looked puzzled asking: really? What's a Ute? 1 basketball fan did know who utah and utah state but it was a lot of fun to see so many people compliment BYU players and have no idea who the yewts are.





Big 12 expansion? They've got my vote now.

Word. In my experience the Oregon/Washington/UCLA fans were 10x more bigoted than the OU fans in recent years.

I'd rather go Big XII than PAC-10. I think it is a better fit for BYU athletics overall. I will take OU, Texas, Nebraska, A&M, etc over USC, Oregon UW any day. I hope they choke on their snobbery.

Previous threads and quotes from the Big XII commissioner have made it abundantly clear the Big XII has just as much interest in limiting Sunday play as the Pac 10: in both cases, none. BYU isn't going to any BCS conference. Our best hope is to stick with the MWC and make it an automatic qualifier, into the BCS or into a playoff system.

If they want extra money with fans or tv market they will consider it. As long as BYU does not make the final, it would not mess it up on Sunday. In most sports it is no big deal as they take at large invites.
