Versus SUX

I've been having this bad feeling every time one of our games is shown on Versus, now I know why: Here's our record in m-basketball and football:



2009/2010 basketball: 0-2

2008/2009 basketball: 0-1

2007/2008 basketball: 1-1 (win over :utard:s !)



2009 football: 0-2 (with a final 11-2 record...)

2008 football: 1-1 (UCLA win)

2007 football: 2-1 (Arizona and TCU win)



67% losing record over the last three years on Versus. Take just the last two years and Versus gives us a 85% losing record.... That means we're winning almost every game NOT shown on Versus...

That or Versus is only airing games with BYU that feature a quality opponent.

Ha. Well, just so everyone knows, I think Versus does suck.

Versus is back on directv next week but you gotta get sports pack to have it.

Aside from the "Versus Jinx" (which, yeah, is easily explained by what delco said) anybody got the numbers on how we do when we're on CBS College Sports? I've noticed I'm generally happy with the results of those games. I think we've won the basketball games this season when I was aware we were on CBS. And TCU destroyed Utah on CBS. I enjoyed that.

I'm really hoping your information is accurate, but the most I've found from reports online is that within the last week or so, the bigwigs from both camps are at least willing to sit in the same room together. Granted, that's an upgrade over the last 6 months, but estimates amongst MMA and Hockey freaks puts Versus back on DirecTV somewhere in April.

my friend works for them and said they got printout yesterday saying that.

Boy do I hope you're right. i switched from Dish Network to DirecTV so that I could get the MTN. I made sure that they had all three (CBSCS, MTN and Versus) before I signed up. Then within a couple of months, they dropped Versus. From everything I could see, it was a completely childish spitting contest between those in charge of both companies. Maybe if Versus is more available, that positive vibe from having more of us Cougar fans watching will translate to more wins!



By the way - nothing on the DirecTV website - just the same info about not carrying Versus.

Anybody have an update on this? I notice that the Championship game is scheduled for Versus. I'd hate to miss it because DirecTV can't get their act together. :sulk:

While I wish DirecTV would get their act together and get a deal worked out with Versus, I wonder if the conference isn't to blame for this mess. Is the conference contractually obliged to only show the championship game on Versus? Was this designed prior to DirecTV dropping Versus? I know this is beating a dead horse, but this TV deal is horrible. So much time was spent waiting for the MTN to even be on DirecTV, then once that is done, everyone switches to DirecTV, then we lose out on Versus. At least DirecTV added CBS Sports to their Choice Xtra package last year so I don't need to buy the sports pack for the games on Friday.

The conference isn't to blame. They don't control the mtn. They sold their shares to Comcast. Now, if you want to blame them for that, that would be warranted. But the MWC has little control over the mtn's TV negotiations.

I don't appreciate having to pay for something that was once included in the package I already pay for, but just to finally have the option to at least buy it if I want it is a real treat. I always have to buy the sports package for CBS C, so now when I do, I get Versus too. I'm okay with that.
