New Committment per TBS--DE Kesni Tausinga

Kesni Tausinga DE from Bigham. Anyone know anything about him? Gman knew this was coming but he is not in their database from what I can see.

All you need to know is that this kid is going to terrorize BYU's future opponents. But I'm sure more will come out about him in time. Great pick up for BYU.

As far a stars go, we now have 7 commits for this class, with 3 being 3* and the other 4 being NR's. And this class will be much smaller as well, so as far as ratings go, as of today, it is shaping up to be very average. this is also our 4th commit from Bingham HS school for this class alone, with Langi still out there. Bingham better be damn good, because that is a lot of kids from 1 place.

5A state champs last year. And all the guys who've committed so far have all been multi-year (and most two-way) starters. You don't have to worry about a thing. Coach Peck is one of the greatest football teachers at the high school level. He's produced more D1 talent than any other coach in the last 4 years.

You're right, Eathyn Manumaleuna sucked at 6'2" 280 lbs. I'm sorry, but that comment is embarassing. Kesni started for the national championship Highland HS rugby team as a sophomore as well as winning the 5a state championship in wrestling as a jr. The kid is an absolute stud. The kid is only a jr in hs and will easily put on another 10-15 lbs in the next year which is plenty big for a 6'1" dt. I have no relation to this kid, but I do follow Utah high school football very closely and can't stand some of the ignorant statements that are made about in-state recruits.

Ummm...It actually can be quite beneficial for D-linemen to be a little stouter than their offensive counterparts, it makes that explosion quicker and makes it easier to get under the pad level of the O-line and shuck them to get to the QB or running back.

the entire goal of a defensive tackle in our defense, is to take up space, eat 2 blockers and not get moved. height has very little to do with that position; center of gravity does and if he's a 5a state championship wrestler, and will be close to 300 by the time he plays at BYU, he'll be perfect.



of all the bingham guys that have signed for next years recruiting year, this guy excites me the most (thought by all reports, Baker Pritchard is an absolute stud)



as far as maturing, these guys haven't even finished their junior years of high school; think about how much the body matures between 16-18 yrs old.... this kid is legit and will make a dynamite DT.

Yes, because there's no way that these kids, not even seniors in high school yet, will grow any more. Or that we could possibly have success with someone so short or so light in the middle...

Like Craig said, height doesn't matter at DT in BYU's 3-4. And anybody between 270-300 lbs can do just fine. Too much heavier than that and they lose their quicks. The goal is to get penetration and force the double team thereby freeing up the DEs and LBs. It's not a glamorous position but BYU's defensive success hinges on great DT play. That's part of the reason why the defense took a step back in 2008, because the DTs couldn't get penetration.

;) It's all good brotha... Just kinda bored. Thought I'd spark a conversation.

Seems pretty fleet of foot for someone who is built square, plus, he seems to get off blocks, even double teams, for tackles really well.
