AP (Associated Press) Basketball Math

From the Associated Press initial recap on the game last night:



"D.J. Gay scored 15 points to lead San Diego State (20-8, 9-5 MWC). The Aztecs entered with a four-game winning streak and a chance to move into a second-place tie with the Cougars."



So, let me try to get this right. . . if the Aztecs had won, they would have been 10-4. Had BYU lost they would have been 10-3.



It therefore follows that (10-3) = (10-4).



I'm glad the writer just writes and wasn't my 4th grade math teacher.

In order to complete a degree in journalism, broadcast or print, a student is required to to take a certain number of classes in stupidity. The largest segment of required classes is in asking stupid and inappropriate questions (with special courses in asking the same question 50 times, after the subject has said that he can't answer that question). The second required block of classes is in making incredibly stupid and thoughtless statements, and how to excuse yourself with other irrelevant or unrelated Statements or bald faced lies, if necessary. The third requirement is intensive training in misuse of the English language, wherein they are carefully trained to do such things as: take a simple statement, like "Jimmer had a good game," and inexplicably shange it to "Jimmer, he had a good game." :gross: :sick:



Bottom line: Don't be too concerned with a complete lack of math skills or cognitive ability from a journalist. All their years of training rubs off on their entire lack of intelligence. :evil: :P
