So, I'm watching BYU vs Tulsa from several years back (the one at home that we won), and I still can't help but yell at the incompetent officials and get all kinds of excited about the game. I really think I have a problem, y'all, is there a BYU football withdrawal program that I can join until the season starts back up?

PS--The officials during this game were absolutely miserable! They cost us two fumble recoveries by calling the players down and called a completely phantom holding on Criddle on a third down. Bah!!

Not a problem. It's a blessing. The problem is when you can't find a game to watch. ;) When I'm watching an old game, my wife will see how excited I get, and ask who I think will win this time. :P BTW, I saw a little of the same game, and was noticing how much better Beck was than Hall at checking down his receivers to find an open man. How great would we have been the last three years if Hall had done that better?

If, at any time while screaming at the incompetent referees, you see red, then you have a problem.

I usually suspect that they are wearing red underneath their zebra suits, does that count?

I have had the same challenge (problem) for years.

My personal solution is as follows:

1. 3 weeks before the football season ends - I make an appt. w/ a Family Counselor.

2. During my first visit I explain the situation - and I tell him there is no cure.

3. He understands he will just sit there & listen - nod his head - and agree w/ me.

4. On occasion it's Ok to make sympathetic noises: Ahhh, Ohhh, Hmmm & I see!

5. August arrives - miracle!!! All better.

6. Next winter - repeat the above cycle.

7. Nothing ever gets cured - but my wife doesn't have to listen to me & there is peace @ home!!!

     ;)

Schmoe, I watched that Tulsa replay as well, and yes, I was just furious, even though I knew the outcome of the game. The officiating was just awful. I generally complain that the refs wait far to long to blow a play dead (tends to get guys hurt), but these refs were calling plays dead before the Tulsa guy with the ball even hits the ground--where does that come from. Then they do a video review on that play, it's obvious the guy is fumbling the ball before he's even close to being down, but the review "confirms" the call on the field. Sheesh, like Schmoe, I'm livid. Where do these refs come from? Tulsa? And I'm thinking...the officiating is this awful, and the game is being played in Provo, what if this game is being played in Tulsa? I can't go there, it's too dreadful of a thought.

This is why I don't like any "judged" events in the olympics. In a race, there's never any doubt who wins, it's the guy who comes in first; in judged events, it's a complete crap shoot. I love to watch ice dancing, and pairs skating, but it's all judged, it's all subjective. Ok, I feel better now.
