13-1 or 29-3

What is a more impressive record against MWC teams, 13-1 or 29-3? I know straight division says 93% is better than 91% but which is really more impressive?



13-1 is BSU's record all time against the MWC (including as we all know a couple wins over the worst Cougar teams since the 60's....and one of those needed a Payne missed FG at the end).



29-3 is BYU's record in the MWC since Bronco pulled the team out of the dumps in 2006.



Donkey fans pull the 13-1 out of their butt all the time as evidence that BSU is better than MWC teams, but I really don't find it as impressive BYU's (29-3 last 4 years) or TCU's (15-1 last 2 years) or even yewtah's (13-3 last 2 years) recent MWC records.



Nevertheless....if inviting the donkeys to the trough meant an AQ bid I'd take it.



I really don't want the MWC to get torn apart right before crossing the finish line of AQ-hood. This conference shake-up rumor mill is threatening to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for the MWC.

Good points. I would love to have BSU in the conference if for nothing else just to have a shot at shutting them up every year.

don't fall for this trap. it won't shut them up, it will make them worse.



Boise St fans are the bad boyfriend dating your really hot daughter. If you fight it and tell them not to see each other, they'll band together even more and he gets WORSE and will NEVER leave you alone. In all likilhood they'll get married and have ugly babies.



The best strategy is ignore the whole thing, pretend you don't see them. And let things fall apart naturally. Even if we did beat them down every year, they'd pay even MORE attention to us. ignore..just ignore....

I think 29-3 over the last four years is more impressive than 13-1 all-time. Notre Dame has a great all-time record, but their play of the last few years leaves much to be desired. Boise is 1-1 vs TCU the last two years, which is clearly more impressive than BYU's 0-2

And what happens if someone lures coach Peterson away from the program now? He just lost his D Coordinator, so if he goes, BSU could go down. They have had a nice run the last 8-10 years, but a bad coaching change could send them back down. And if they go down, they may struggle to get back up. And since all they have is football, still not sold on them as a must for the MWC. Their hoops is horrible, just dreadful. Plus, that stadium is rinky-dink, like Utah had pre-Olympics. In the short term for football, BSU sounds great. But in the long term for all sports, not so much.



As for who is better, we get them on schedule soon enough and will settle some scores then, I think.

Great point. Best is Auto bid for mwc without bsu.

Petersen is what, their 4th extremely good coach in a row? Sounds like they have an awesome AD. They have succeeded at an extremely high level for 40ish years in a row now.

Their hoops is better than the MWC average, and they beat BYU two years in a row during our best run ever. Their arena hosts the Jazz and has hosted the NCAA Tourny as well.

And their football stadium is awesome, and is being expanded aggressively right not. I've been there, and it's impressive. Have you?

While you did exaggerate a bit on those, I still don't see the long term benefit of having BSU in the conference if the MWC can get it done without them. Is adding BSU going to force the BCS's hand? Doubt it. It's just one more team to beat up on the top teams in the MWC which the media will brush off as lesser quality play when all the top teams will come away from each season with more losses to each other.



And I don't want to join the BCS anyway.
