My cousin (who played basketball with Ainge at BYU) just posted an article from the Deseret News on T. Hill's game against Atlanta. He blocked a punt and had a receiving and a running TD! He came off the end on the right side to block the punt giving the Saints the ball on Atlanta's 30 yard line. He then scored the opening TD. He became only the second QB in NFL history to score a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game. The other QB to do it was none other than Jim McMahon. Hill has now played 6 positions; quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, Kick returner and now defensive end. Reggie Bush calls him a beast. His coach, Payton says he doesn't know anyone who loves football more.

Hill is a quarterback in a fullback's body with halfback speed. I wish he'd have had better health when he played at BYU. He easily could have been the best player in the nation.

I wish we had decent offensive line when he played at BYU and a decent QB coach so that he likely wouldn't have gotten injured.

BYU really missed out and mismanaged Hill.

Anytime anyone finds themselves wishing for the days of Bronco and Anae back, just remember Taysom Hill and how we wasted his talent.

Did Taysom ever really play for Bronco and Anae? I seem to remember season ending injuries every year with 2013 the only year he played all the way, which he was a beast that year. in 2016 everyone wanted him benched because they didn't like his performance coming off of injury with the new coaching staff. Your statement about wasted talent doesn't hold up.

Its important to remember that Taysom the New Orleans Saint is not the same player that played at BYU. He has continued to work on his game and do anything asked of him and has excelled to his credit. I love all he is doing and the attention he is getting--but his role was different on the team as was his body/conditioning/ability. We shouldn't rob him of all the work he has done since he graduated.

"Hill wound up playing in 6 games in 2012, starting and winning two starts midseason before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the closing seconds of a victory over Utah State."

"In 2014, Hill sustained a fractured leg against Utah State on October 3, ending his season. BYU lost their first game of the season that night."

"Injury again struck Hill to start off the 2015 season, suffering a lisfranc fracture during the opener against Nebraska on September 5. After the game, BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall announced that the injury would cost Hill the rest of the season."

Bronco left after the 2015 season. Hill sustained three season-ending injuries under Bronco. But no injuries in the NFL, even though the players are bigger, faster, and hit harder.

You kind of prove my point. Only one year without an injury. Especially the first injury, rather than taking a knee they ran a stupid play that resulted in an injury. Course Doman was OC that year, not Anae.

Injuries in 2014 and 2015 were largely due to the marshmallow OL Anae was bent on with his stupid go fast go hard idea.

We all talked about it back then, about what could have been if Hill actually had a decent OL. Hill took way too many hits.

Uh No, the offensive line had nothing to do with the 2015 injury since that was a QB draw which Hill scored on and no one touched him. In 2014, you could call that on the Oline because Hill was flushed and on the tackle, had his ankle caught between the ground and the tacklers knee. You are grasping at straws here trying to blame hill's injuries on Bronco. As far as bigger, faster, stronger in the NFL, Hill isn't in on every play in the NFL so he isn't getting hit nearly as much. Plus, I think it was just fate at BYU because every one of Hill's injuries in college were basically freak types of circumstances.

He was amazing at BYU.

The “Doman” injury where he should have been taking a knee in victory formation against USU is the only mismanagement I recall with Hill. (And I may be making that up - edit Gunk references it too so I’m not losing my memory yet)

He developed at BYU and seemed to get better every season. I hate seeing QBs run, and I especially hate to see QBs trying to run tough, but it’s tough to argue with the results when he was on the field.

You are correct in remembering the 2012 injury. Doman made a signal that he thought meant run the clock and hill interpreted it as hurry and run a play so he ran a quick QBs draw play and was hit in the knee. It was boneheaded by everyone on the staff and was probably one of the big reasons doman was fired after 2012.
