BYU dropped 42 points in the second quarter of its 56-24 win against hapless Massachusetts, one touchdown off the Bowl Subdivision record for points in a single quarter, to turn a 7-0 game into a 49-0 halftime advantage. The Cougars had well over 400 yards of offense after the first half before pulling back the throttle across the final two quarters. They're now 7-4 with wins against Tennessee, Southern California and Boise State.

The Volunteers will reach a bowl game for the first time under coach Jeremy Pruitt and for the first time overall since 2016 after winning 24-20 at Missouri, the team's fourth win a in row and fifth in six games. Written off at 1-4, and with wild speculation circling around Pruitt's future, Tennessee has been one of the top success stories of the second half and with continued strong play through the end of December — next comes Vanderbilt, a definite win, followed by an unknown bowl opponent — will be one of the trendiest teams during the coming offseason.

It does make out record seem more impressive. It's just hard with the two losses being more about us losing games we were ahead in late an should have won than anything else, but kudos to the Cougs for battling on.



I watched the BSU vs USU game last night and was just in awe of how we ever managed to beat that team.



The most enjoyable aspect of our record is that we have hung the only loss on Boise and we beat the only team to beat Puketah.
