USU MBB

I watched #15 ranked USU vs LSU game tonight. The Aggies won 80 to 78. They came back from down 19 points.



I don't know why, but I've never developed the dislike for the Dairy Utes like I have to the Pukes. USU fans are probably like Puketah was maybe 30-40 years ago where there was a still a significant amount of LDS students/families and while there was a rivalry, it wasn't so hateful and intense. History tells us that USU probably will move more and more in that direction, but I still like them to succeed. Smaller school, in Utah, smaller town, etc.



For the first half all I could think of was over-rated, but it was a lot like some of the BYU FB games where one side just keeps ahead of the opponent until the end when they sneak on past, but I take my hat off to USU for persevering and not quitting.



USU had some significant height that we'll need to over come. At least we'll have Yoeli back by then so we can have some kind of inside game going on.

The only game I wouldn't cheer for USU is when they play BYU. I didn't know they were ranked 15/16. I looked them up and they have 3 7 footers, one is 7' 2". One of them, Dorius is from Heber so I wonder how we missed him. Their leading scorer, Merrill is from Bountiful, is a returned missionary and is another miss for BYU. I'm with you EM I like them a lot better than the Utes. I hope they hammer them. We will have to bring our A game to compete with them.

Much of USU's pre season ranking was due to the return of Merrill and their big man Queta. Similar to BYU, USU has been without the use of their big man so far due to an injury sustained in the off-season. Unlike BYU, they seem to have shoot the ball a lot better and been able to win the close games and move up the polls a little.
