Remember when Nick Howell got demoted for giving up 27 pts per game on defense?

This year BYU is giving up 31 pts per game. The defense in 2014 was riddles with key injuries but that was not allowed by the fans or boosters to be an excuse.

Yeah, but was he a fun guy in the locker room?



I seem to have underestimated that criteria in the hiring/retention of coaches.

I know you are being TIC but I am not affording Sitake any excuses that were not given to the previous coaching staff.

Bronco was great for BYU. He did really good things and was a very successful coach for BYU.



He deserved the raise at a new location and BYU seemed ready to try something else. I don’t mind looking back at the Bronco days, but that ship has sailed.



I hope Kalani is able to turn things around. He seems like a great guy. Being a great guy and coach seem totally unrelated though, so it’s going to be different factors to be a great coach.



I think the program needs to start plucking successful coordinators from MAC schools. It can be a nice step up for them on the way to bigger things. I don’t think the Utah tree is good for BYU to pluck from. Howell wasn’t beloved here. Bronco seems to be his own defensive genius.
