What was the real fluke?

Watching the USC game in 3Q Troy up 21-10 I’m feeling suddenly optimistic about BYU vs. Washington.



If you believe, as most sports media do, that the U dominated the Y in their first game simply because they are just that good, then Utah shouldn’t be challenged right now.



But if Utah beat BYU mainly because Wilson was impatient and Grimes didn’t call number 5 often enough, then the reality might be that BYU is much better than they showed in their first game.



Here’s hoping.

Truth lies in the middle--not as bad as we looked against Utah, not as good as we might feel after the USC win.



Both games were lost by a team whose young QB was trying too hard to do too much and committed the turnovers that ended up being the difference in the game.

Turnovers. 2 pick sixes. Tough to win a ball control type game that way. BYU did not look outclassed but they won’t win that way.
