As is said every year, the polls just come out too early. I'm not saying BYU is better than 32 at this point, but every year we see teams projected that never should and teams that weren't that should.

I don't mind that they have early polls, because I think the teams that are protected are protected due to a bias that would exist whether there were early rankings or not. The thing that needs to change is the rules of early polling---once a team loses in the first few weeks, they are out, regardless of the opponent. (Later in the season when you have more data, make a more nuanced choice. But keeping someone in the top 25 because the person they were beaten by is also in the totally guesswork pre-season top 25? Stupid.)



And yes, I realize this would mean we're not playing a ranked Washington next week and that could hurt BYU's chances of getting into the polls. So be it, it's a bad system whether it helps BYU or not.

Sammich, I don't know if I totally agree but I miss seeing you on here and hope you come on more often.

Polls shouldn't be allowed until halfway through the season. Heck, college football shouldn't have a system based on polls (i.e. opinions) to begin with. But I digress.
