Top 10 teams for Pac-0 expansion

I enjoyed this analysis thoroughly and had to share since there are names on the list I hadn't even considered. I thought they were very complimentary of BYU's program and seemed to get details of the local areas right.



I disagree with Boise's placement though. I think he disregards what an amazingly small market Boise is and plays up football at the expense of all their other sports. he is right though about their desire to escape the WAC.



I'd hate to have to deal with arrogant Boise St fans should they "jump" from the WAC to a BCS conference. ... we'd never hear the end of it. I'd never want to play them ever again. The other thing the article doesn't mention is what BSU and the BCS have in common:

Wow, the guy that wrote that is a total moron. I also suspect he is a Boise State grad. No way in hell is BSU #1 on the PAC10's list. First off, Utah has as many BCS win as BSU, is a better academic institution and brings a larger market. Second, Utah athletics--across the board--kill what Boise has to offer. Seriously, the guy did not even think it through.



I think Texas is #1 on the PAC10 list, but that is a pure pipedream and will NEVER happen. Ever. Unless Texas A & M or Oklahoma goes with them. No way do I see it.



Colorado makes sense. Utah makes sense. BYU--for local game day revenue, fan following and location, makes the most sense. Throw Sunday play and religion into it, and we are probably out. But answer this, if Notre Dame wanted in, would they say no over Sunday play (ND plays on the Sabbath) or conservative religious politics? Nope. But BYU is too hot button in Cali right now.

Seriously. If I have to hear one more mention of BSU in the Pac-10 discussion, I'm going to scream. It was all over the USA Today mail section today. I'm a BSU fan, and I'll say two things: outside of football and, like, wrestling (where they already ARE in the Pac-10 by some odd twist of fate), there's nothing else going on sports-wise, and the best thing you can say about it academically is that it's improving. (Look at their 4, 6 and 8-year graduation rates. Remarkably low.)



If BYU gets flak for being weak on academics whenever the Pac-10 comes up, then BSU shouldn't even be mentioned. Period.

This guy saying that BSU is the number one contender just proves that NOBODY has any idea what is going to happen at this point. Just because a team has been successful in one sport for a few years doesn't mean that the PAC or any other conference wants them. Of course wins will get a team noticed but conference presidents look at so much more then just wins. TV market, fan base, academics and facilities are all a factor in a teams inclusion.

Let them have Utah, and BSU, and we'll still be beating them. One stipulation: Monson goes with!
