BYU Lacrosse 2010

The BYU men's lacrosse team will kick off the 2010 season next week with a road trip to play San Diego State on the 11th, Chapman (big rivalry game) on the 13th, and UC-Santa Barbara on the 15th. Having watched them scrimmage tonight, I am not too confident that we will see the Cougs back in the championship game for quite some time. Of course, we will have to see how the season plays out, but, sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if this is BYU's worst year in recent memory.



On kind of a cool side note: "The February 13th Chapman/BYU game will be telecast live on Fox College Sports (FCS). The television broadcast will begin at 7:00 pm Pacific Time next Saturday night from Orange County, California. The game will be rebroadcast several times following the game on FCS. This contest represents the first live regular season MCLA television broadcast on a major sports network."

Haha, well, anything short of a national championship is a letdown for this team, it's not like I'm saying that they won't win a single tourney game :lol:

The #2 ranked Cougars beat up on the #20 ranked SDSU Aztecs tonight, with a final score of 13-5. Be sure to catch the game vs Chapman @ 8:00 pm MST on Fox College Sports on Saturday.

BYU lost to #4 Chapman in overtime 12-11. Chapman was able to tie the game with 10 seconds left in regulation and then scored the sudden-death goal with only 11 seconds left in the first overtime.

BYU made their California roadtrip a success by beating the #17 UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos 12-11 in their second overtime game in three days. BYU is now 2-1 on the season with their next game coming Feb. 22 against in-state rival, Div-2 #22 Utah Valley.

I see BYU lacrosse as a completely separate entity from BYU athletics, that should be enough of an explanation...

Like the guy who justified firing the most successful coach in club lacrosse? (but by all means, this is no excuse for my own justification, I'm just wondering why I'm in this handbasket...) ;)

It was a hard fought, back-and-forth battle between BYU and UVU, with the teams trading lead changes several times in each quarter. UVU looked to get the momentum when they went up 8-7 late in the third quarter, but BYU answered and the teams went into the fourth tied. BYU showed their depth in the fourth quarter as UVU simply ran out of gas, missing on some fundamental passes and catches and allowing BYU unsettled situations and transition goals. Final score BYU 15 UVU 10.



PS-If anyone went to the game (I know none of you did, but still) I was the shorter, stockier coach in the grey shirt on the UVU sideline.

Ouch, ya got me! :D Seriously though, we could possibly have two national title contenders in club lacrosse this year from Happy Valley. I think BYU probably won't quite get past the semis in D-1, but they could, and UVU is really looking like the team to beat in D-2 right now.

#5 BYU was defeated by #1 Michigan this Saturday with a final score of 13-9. The Cougars are now 3-2 on the season with a 2-2 record in Division 1 of the MCLA.

The Cougars will be facing off against in-state rival (and big-time nose-in-the-air windbags) Westminster College tomorrow the 10th of March @ 7:00 pm on the North University Field. Westminster won the MCLA-II national championship and are ranked #10 this year. This will be, again, a battle of top ten MCLA club teams and a good chance to see some high-level lacrosse.

The Cougars beat the tar out of a struggling Westminster team, winning 22-6. Next game is Saturday at 7:00 on north university field.

Cougars beat the University of Montana 29-2. Next game is on Thursday against the Huskies @ Washington.
