Recruiting Violation?

As a fan can I post on a recruits facebook page? I am not a cougar club member or make any contributions. I assume that this is legal. Not that I have done it but we know cougar fans do it and fans at other schools too.

I don't think NCAA has made a decision on Facebook, MySpace or the other social networking sites.

I dunno I talk to Sae Tautu (the linebacker recruit from this year) occasionally on facebook seeing as he hung out with us growing up, he was a puny little kid that was about 5 years younger but loved to hang out with us and skateboard and what not, now he's huge and like 6 foot 4, but I dunno if there's any violation in talking to some recruit that's your friend? I'm guessing it will probably be one sooner or later. Who knows... Good kid though, and has an awesome family. (although some might disagree because somehow he's related to the Teo's.) ;)

That is exactly what happened to his uncle Itula (Mili). He was a scrawny little kid, I went on my mission and "poof!" he is an all-state player and starring at BYU! Itula actually reminded me of Se'a's dad. They had the same body, hight, speed etc. So I am not surprised that his son is doing so well. And they are a really, really great family!

What I've picked up to date:

1- If you are a donor or a booster for BYU, or if you are an alumni or season-ticket holder, you shouldn't be doing this kind of thing.

2- If you are a teenager or a current BYU student, and a non-donor non-season ticket holder, you can probably get away with doing this kind of thing a little bit.

3- As a blanket statement, BYU officially frowns upon any and all contact from BYU fans with BYU recruits, even anonymous online contact.

Take that for what it's worth (it's a confusing and difficult subject for the NCAA and thus for BYU).
