Kragthorpe in the Trib has a good article on Aaron Francisco and the Super Bowl.

I was very interested in the list at the end of the article of Cougars that have been on Super Bowl teams. A few interesting facts:

-Cougars are 29-10 in the Super Bowl.

-Steve Young and Bart Oates have the most Super Bowl rings, with 3 each

-Six Cougars with two rings each:

Gordon Gravelle, Todd Christensen, Marc Wilson, Bill Ring, Kurt Gouveia, Jim McMahon

-Most Cougars in the same Super Bowl: 5: XXIII (San Francisco-Cincinatti)

Jason Buck, Lee Johnson, Leon White, Tom Holmoe, Steve Young

Don't think I'd ever heard of Gordon Gravelle or Bill Ring...

29-10? WOW. I think it looks really good for the Colts this year...

Of the 29-10, how many of the 10 losers were playing against cougars i.e part of the 29 winners?

Hasn't Brett Kiesel won 2 with the steelers? Vs Seahawks and Cards?

Wow, so only four super bowl teams ever with Cougs vs teams not with Cougs have lost. Lookin pretty good for Indy (unless I'm missing someone from BYU on the Saints).

Chris Hoke was on both Steelers teams as well.

Shaun Nua got a ring with those two also. Durning the game you would have Hoke, Nua, and Kiesel playing in the game. It was pretty cool seeing an all BYU front dline in Pittsburg.

Do we say 29-11 now or is it 12 since Francisco lost along with Collie?

Bill Ring was one of my favorite 49'ers. He wasn't the fastest or most powerful of running backs, in fact many wondered how he ever made it in the Pro's but he was a real gamer.

Go Cougs!
