This may surprise you, but the MWC outrecruited the WAC.

WAC:

5* = 0

4* = 1

3* = 29



MWC:

5* = 0

4* = 6

3* = 49



1. Per ESPN. As someone pointed out, ESPN doesn't really cover JUCO, but still.



2. Keep in mind that one of the MWC's best teams (AF) doesn't get caught up in all these shenanigans, meaning this is 9 teams in the WAC vs. 8 teams from the MWC.



3. BYU had 3 4*s and 16 3*s. That's right, BYU alone had 3x as many 4*s and more than half the total number of 3*s as the ENTIRE WAC COMBINED.



4. The one school from the WAC that did land a four-star? Utah State.



I don't know how much of this is new/irregular, and I know it will come as a surprise to absolutely nobody. But I posted it anyways because it was fun to make fun of the WAC this last season, and it's still fun to make fun of the WAC in the off-season.

I;d hate to see the PAC10 v. MWC comparison. I think they can make the same argument against us. At the end of the day, I'd rather win on the field, than in the mythical recruiting battle, though.

This isn't anything new to Boise St. They always get 2/3-star recruits and mold them into studs. I don't think they've ever had a 5-star. Only 4-star's(Scout.com) they have is Kellen Moore and a couple LB's and that's it.

No, you're right and I should have thought about that before posting. I just didn't realize how wide the divide between the two conferences was.



I'm really looking at this more from a Karl Benson "the conference needs to improve"/"the conference is improving" standpoint. Nothing's proven till it happens on the field, but I don't see a lot of evidence that it's happening yet.



I was actually a little disheartened to see that Idaho's recruiting was as bad as it was, even after a winning season and a pretty fun bowl game, even if it was the Humanitarian Bowl. (I'm from Idaho, and I miss the revel ant rivalry of my childhood). They did apparently steal away a Washington State commitment, though.

Comparing a BCS conference to a non-AQ conference is apples to oranges. Non-AQ to non-AQ is reasonable. The WAC has ESPN in their corner. The MWC doesn't. Yet, the MWC did better. Imagine that. ;)
